CIPSed Men’s World Shore Championships – Langebaan, South Africa
The CIPSed Men’s World Shore Championships took place from 6th – 14th November 2010 in Langebaan, South Africa. The England Men’s World Shore team consisted of; Richard Prosser (Team Manager), Ian Golds, Saul Page, Richard Yates, Mark Pinder, John Brown and Andrew Dawkins (Reserve).
Day one – The first match day took place at Soverby on Wednesday 10th November with the weather conditions being wet and windy, and the England Men’s team finishing in 5th position.
Day two – The match took place once again at Soverby, but further to the east, fished to the same time as day one. Unfortunately for the England Men’s team they suffered a downturn to finish day two in 14th position.
Day three – Was fished at Spreeuwalle from 9am- 1pm with conditions warmer than the previous two days of the Championship. The England Men’s team came third on the day which put the team into sixth place, only 4 points from a medal position.
Day four – The final match day was fished at Soverby from 8am – noon with the England Men’s team to finish 4th.

Richard Prosser, England Team Manager said “Top Anglers from 16 nations travelled to South Africa, which was a superb venue for the World Shore Championships 2010, with plenty of big fish, good accommodation and us being made most welcome.
I am sure they will be hosts again soon, with the positive comments received.
Whilst all of our team members made the trip with an assured and confident approach of being among the medals, we did not have the consistent results that won us a silver medal in Montenegro last year. This was confirmed with ourselves and the host country finishing 14th and 15th respectively on Day Two. However, our results on the other three days were good enough to place us seventh overall, which was a disappointment to us all.
Our thanks go to our guide, Rudi Van Neikerk and his family for looking after us prior to the Competition and transporting the Team during the event. Also a special thanks to Ian Golds for supplying tackle for the Team members.”
