In contrast to the much maligned January issue of Match Fishing magazine, the January issue of Pole Fishing magazine is an absolute belter.
Excellent articles, loads of tips and instruction. Right on the mark.

totally agree – even the ‘legends’ new Sean Ashby article was of a far higher and informative standard.

The ‘legends’ MF could imo, have been far better if a panel of top names today hand given the older legends a SWOT analysis and emphasised the individual innovative tactics that those legends had not only on their own fishing – but in changing and shaping modern day angling. Notice a certain Paul Newall got a mention in a few of those old articles though,:)

Interesting article about sewage in rivers !

Yes. Don’t know what to make of that. Fished the Lower Thames with water on far too many times with great white cakes of foam with crusty brown tops flowing down the river to believe the article portrays the whole truth.
On the flip side; used to fish the stream in Eton Wick that was, in essence, the sewage outfall for Slough. Rammed full of stamp Roach and cock Dace. Remember the hot pegs at Stoke Bardolph on the Trent many years ago before the river was cleaned up?
