LawrenceHi, I have a match on the K & A canal this weekend on the sections near great bedwin, just wondering if anyone knows what is working there at the moment, depths/rigs/bait would be great. Many thanks.

TF_chaveyParticipantHi Lawrence, I haven’t been up there since last years winter league but waggler and squatt is a very good method up there, don’t think its all pole fishing. I’m taking 11/2pts of white squatts 1/4 pinkies,1/4 maggot ant 1/2 of caster with 1kg of g/bait sensas super canal black & lake. Rigs 2bb-3bb floats with the running line. 4×10,4×12,& 4×14 squatt floats made up on 0.08mm main line-0.06 hooklengths with a 24 image IM1 hook. See you there. Rich

TF_chaveyParticipantSorry I forgot, you will need over 10lb to win with 5lb+ to win every section

TF_allyParticipantI see you are being a bit negative Rich, I would take 2 pints of caster and if you are going to bother with groundbait, which I wouldnt I would be looking at using at least 3 kg and taking 5kg because you need to keep it going in constantly. I would also set up a 3/4 or1 gram oli rig to give a varied presentation

13/10/2007 at 8:00 pm #65969
TF_allyParticipantWell nappys are expensive but 2 pints of casters are cheaper than the bit of this bit of that bait selection you have put together, have a good one anyway

TF_chaveyParticipant19lb of skimmers won the match today, with 14lb (mostly 6 perch) second there were also 2x 12lb’s an 11lb and a 10lb.
I had 151 fish for 7lb 4oz mostly roach with a 12oz skimmer.
Looking forward to next weeks league match. -
14/10/2007 at 7:40 pm #65971
TF_SelfeyWell then Larry how did it go??
Rich where were you in the section as most the lads recon the end pegs were needed. -
14/10/2007 at 7:55 pm #65972
TF_chaveyParticipantDave I was at the frog lane/sewers section and was 3rd, Frank on the end peg had 11lb odd (6 skimmers+ bits) and one of our guys had 250+fish including 2 12oz skimmers for 7lb 10oz There were 2 5’s a 3 and a 2. in my section. Higgy was second in his going back towards the lock, but the end peg had 10lb. There were only 2 sections at the sewers today there will be 3 there next week. The competition length (were we were next to each other yonks ago)was very weedy and didn’t fish with only 2 5lb weigths so they are leaving it out next week. There will be 4 sections down at the Reading end. 3 at little bedwin/wires and 3 at frog lane.

LawrenceSelfy, all I could catch on was squatt, had 150 fish for 3lb 6oz!!! I tried caster every now and then but couldn’t get a touch on it! Also tried chop and caster on the far bank for the perch but with no luck!

16/10/2007 at 8:42 pm #65976
TF_SelfeyThink larry was the 3 in your section he was always going to struggle hes got Dave Croucher as his mentor!
Tappy ran away with the winch match heard he had 60lbs odd off peg 12 -

LawrenceChavey, I was on D6 (next to Colin Watts), was a real struggle to get anything bigger than 1oz!!! Were u in E section?
Selfey, did Tappy win with skimmers and carp on the wag? -
17/10/2007 at 8:40 pm #65978
TF_chaveyParticipantI was in the next section to you. E4. I’ve been up thee today and had another 7lb+ in what will be D section this sunday. Hope I’m not using up all my luck before the league match. It was much clearer today. and with frosts forecast for this weekend it could be harder for the winter league.Rich
ps make sure you fish like Dave croucher and not eat like him. he he -

TF_red_hydroWhat day are you on there Chavey, is the match this Sunday.
Also, the section above what we call the wides on Reading water, is this in.
-
17/10/2007 at 10:21 pm #65980
TF_chaveyParticipantThe match is on the Sunday. there are 4 sections of six between the Reading boundary and the bridge. 3 more through the bridge, under the wires and up to little Bedwin and 3 sections at frog lane in Great Bedwin. I have been in the section between the wides and the bridge today.

Lawrencethink I hit send a couple too many times… haha
-
19/10/2007 at 9:50 pm #65986
TF_chaveyParticipantyes I did fish squatt, but single squatt, not treble. Looks like it may be a bit harder this weekend, with these frosts, might have a bit of liquidised bread in my bait bag this weekend.
-
20/10/2007 at 9:52 pm #65987
TF_allyParticipantDont you find it a bit confusing taking all those different baits Rich
-
21/10/2007 at 7:16 pm #65988
TF_chaveyParticipantIt fished harder today, I had 192 fish for 6.1.0 from the second peg below the lock at frog lane. and was 2nd in the section behind Harry on the end peg next to the lock who had 7.4.8 of skimmers and perch for 2nd overall. I slipped into 6th in the frame It was won by Alan Hillman with 12-6, Harry Selkeld was second, thrird was Graham Tappendon with 6.7.0, Jason Mills 4th with 6.6.0 . Selfy 5th with 6.3.0 so after the winner it was close,
Teams; Garbolino BVMG 44, Mosella Eastleigh 40, TVAC 39,Andover 31.5,Dorset Raiders 31, Post Office 24.5
I caught at 4m and 9m with squatt and across on the caster -
24/10/2007 at 8:37 am #65989
TF_allyParticipantSpoke to Harry who said if it wasnt for you counting fish he wouldnt have known how far behind you he was and he may not have targetted the bonus fish
Hear you had some little notes on your cars from a lady….. -
24/10/2007 at 5:55 pm #65990
TF_Selfeyally forget about the squatt i had 6-3 on single red maggot on top of the far shelf and I sprayed about 2 pint of maggot during the match..
As for the lady who turned into a bloke during the course of the match she left a note on my van and someone?? keyed the side of it.. so if you are parking in frog lane beware of him/her.. -
24/10/2007 at 8:00 pm #65991
TF_allyParticipantI am not able to make our WL on bedwin as now working silly shifts, but it always seems to pay to be very positive on this venue with whatever bait you decide to go with.
