        REPORT
Sunday saw the final match of the 2013-2014 “season” when members gathered on the banks of the Horseshoe Pool at Birch House Fishery (Brailsford) in bright sunshine. However, not all was completely pleasant as there was also a very strong (and at time cold) wind, making conditions quite difficult.
It appeared that the bulk of the fish had “followed the wind” and all of the top anglers were along the downwind end of the pool, although everyone caught several fish.
Top weight on the day was Ken Fessey with a creditable 44-04 from peg 23. Ken fished pole and baited with corn to take his catch of carp, although he fed pellet (not very often) to keep the fish interested but not to tempt them off the bottom.
On peg 13 Rob Pembridge had fish active in his swim for most of the day. Feeding pellet and fishing the same on the hook, Rob was in constant action, and although he foul hooked and lost several fish and snagged bottom on several occasions, he managed to put 39-12 on the scales for second place.
Third place fell to Anthony White (peg 20) who caught something on everything he tried – feeder, bomb and pole – who ended with 35-00, there being a tie for fourth place between Ivan Carrier (peg 25) and Steve Talbot (peg 28) who both put 28-00 on the scales. Paul Richardson took sixth with 25-12.
None of the main protagonists in the race for the 2013-14 LEVAS Championship drew particularly well, so there was no change in the top three after the match.
Dave Kent is the winner with 233 points, followed by John Adamson (226) and Dave Cotterill (223).
Rob Pembridge’s second place lifted him up to a final position of fourth with 218 points, just above Steve Talbot who had 217, Ivan Carrier moving up to sixth place to end on 212 points.
