REPORT
Sunday saw 26 members of LEVAS and Soldiers & Sailors AC meet on the banks of the Moat Pool at Rycroft Fishery (Hemington) for a joint match, with LEVAS members fishing for the Nelson Jubilee Shield as well as points in 2016 Championship Match 16 of the season.
A sharp frost was followed by very strong NW winds and some heavy rain showers, and it was the anglers who were drawn in the sheltered areas that caught the bulk of the fish and filled the top places.
The two anglers at the end of the lake facing each other were Don Radmore and Andy Edwards, and a fish for fish battle saw Andy eventually come out on top with 72-03 to Don’s 70-14. Andy on peg 15 fished pole and caught on bread and corn, Don, on peg 14 had his fish on pole fished maggot and pellet.
Malc Munn (peg 19) filled the third spot with 38-08, with Alan Welch (peg 8) fourth with 31-09, Len Barker (13) fifth with 28-13 and Dave Cotterill (11) sixth with 22-10.
With three matches remaining the Championship leaders remain in the same places (although with several points changes) excepting Brian Leafe who moves into the top 10 (joint ninth place) at the expense of Neil Stevenson. Full points list is on the website (www.levas.co.uk)
