REPORT
Championship Match 10 (the mid-point match in the 2015 LEVAS Championship), also for the Richardson Cup, was fished on both the “Canal Pools” at Rycroft Fishery and started in warm sultry sunshine and ended in heavy rain and a strong gusting wind.
Once again the Old Canal pool dominated the overall results by taking four of the top six places, although the difference between weights on the pools seems to decrease steadily.
Bill Peach fished an excellent match on end peg 18 on the Old Canal for a clear win with 80-03 of carp. The bulk of Bill’s fish fell to pellet fished tightly to the far bank, although he added a couple of large margin fish in the final minutes of the match.
On Old Canal peg 13, John Adamson took three early fish on paste fished to the far side and the remainder on method feeder, with a strong last half hour producing at least 20-00 of his final 57-05 second placed catch.
Dave Kent (Old Canal peg 16) switched between track and margin swims with sweetcorn bait, and had a good spell just after halfway through when he caught a string of decent carp. However, his catch rate dried up in the latter stages and he had to be content with third place with his 52-08 catch.
Rob Pembridge took top weight on the New Canal (peg 6) with his fourth placed catch of 48-04, mainly carp taken fishing pellet towards the far bank, Paul Richardson in fifth place with 43-11 from New Canal peg 3. Mick Lager was sixth from old Canal peg 4 with a worm caught 36-04 consisting mainly of bream.
The next match (also a joint match with Soldiers & Sailors AC) is on 13 September at Aston Park Lakes (Sheffield) on “Split” Lake. Book in with Dave Kent.
