TF_GillboI have heard that Rob Austin has won it with 101lb off Peg 25 Bonsai but cant confirm if it is correct. If it is true big well done to him as Rob is a very good angler and a top bloke!

TF_jonowhen i left there was an 84lb and an 81lb on bonsai. they were all spawning on bonsai lake so a lot struggled!
format was changed slightly so you had to win a ten peg section to qualify , not come in the top 12 as previous!

TF_GillboNo mate its Maver pairs on the square lakes and I couldnt get on as I had left it too late. The open is on the old lakes so i wont bother with it. Would have like to have gone as Nello won it yesterday with 230lb and you needed 150lb to make the frame!

TF_GillboSeriously Rob you deserve it mate your one of the best none full time anglers there is mate and it couldn’t happen to a nicer bloke.

TF_HatManI think the change to 10 peg sections makes a lot of sense. I think Neil suggested it since he was talking about it the day before & scratching his shiny head trying to work out how he could peg it to even out the chances if it was just the top 12 weights.
I didn’t do much, pegged next to Kev on Bonsai & trying desperately to make what worked well the week before work despite the changed conditions – DOH!

jjenks8Yes Well done to Rob Austin For winning.
Gillbo said ‘he is one of the best non -full time anglers there is’
Just an observation but if Rob is that good what is he doing fishing a match intended for purely club anglers.
I fished the Garbolino club angler comp. a few years ago & it was obvious that a few of the anglers completing were sponsored open match anglers a lot higher than club standard. -

TF_wayne2009i agree theres airitys and pros everywhere lol
unlucky GALPS at least you gave my mate kris a good pasting off the next peg haha

TF_neil gJust like to say thanks to all that came and tbh it did fish better then i thought with the spawning conditions. It did take a long time to weigh in has because we did not know where the winning weight was coming from we did not want to miss the winning persons catch.
101lb won off bonsai then 89lb of oasis then 87lb off willows so you can understand the problems. -
21/05/2010 at 8:19 pm #105492
ah3274ParticipantGREAT venue and great weights off three different pools, hope i can draw bonsai next time the stamp of fish seem alot bigger than oasis where i was drawn??.

what can you do,,great comp though,,i really enjoyed it last year,,even if i did cock up a flyer!!!!
PMSL!well done to the qualifiers !!!!
ps,
the 10 peg section thing sounds like a good idea,,i know alot where gutted last year when they didnt draw bonsai!!!!
fair enough,,bonsai got rammed to try and slow it down,,but a lake that good is gunna take some beating for qualifers,,even if the over all winner did come from a different lake!!!!hopefully i will be there next year!!!

ah3274Participantany sponsored angler need not apply, i am a club angler who has won our anual league tital, this means i have the honour of fishing for my club at this event, ok i fish a few open match’s here and there but who doesnt?.
-
21/05/2010 at 9:49 pm #105502
TF_Leaky Lloydi think he means anglers of better ability out for easy pickings matey! for instance, last year,,there where a couple of fishomania finalists in the draw queue!!!!
but again,,they fish for a club so its all above board!!!! -
21/05/2010 at 9:59 pm #105504
ah3274Participantthis year there was a fisho finalist in the que at lindholme, but i also fish fishomania qualifiers doesn’t mean i am not a CLUB ANGLER?.
-
21/05/2010 at 10:01 pm #105505
TF_craigmI believe last year that one of the qualifiers was a sponsored angler and he wasn’t allowed to fish the final.

TF_Leaky Lloydi know of 2 craig, although i dont think one of them was sponsored at the time,,,he is now,, and incidently,,when it was mentioned he fished the club angler comp infront of a few of his better ability chums up at aston park,,he got the micky taken out of him so much that hhe acually admitted he only enetered to try and win the tackle,,proving the point that some are out for easy pickings,, but again,,he is in a club,,so he is entitled to!!!!
i think id need to be in a 12 peg qualifier to be in with a chance of one of the 12 qualifieing spots!!!~sick ~sick
PMSL!
you dint make this years then bud? -
21/05/2010 at 10:12 pm #105509
TF_Leaky Lloydincidently,,what was the general feeling about the section set up this year?
sounds fairer!!!! -
21/05/2010 at 10:22 pm #105510
TF_Leaky Lloydto change the subject a little i do think neils idea of winning a ten peg section to qualify sounds fairer!
but would it not be easier to have so many qualifiers from each lake?
just a suggestion! -
22/05/2010 at 7:46 am #105522
TF_GALPSHave to say a big thanks to Neil, Bev and their team for looking after us, nothing was too much trouble.
And an awsome fishery to boot.
Roll on next year!!!!

-
23/05/2010 at 12:50 pm #105586
TF_GALPSI think the way that Neil did it was more than fair, still gutted to have missed out by a small margin.
Roll on next year.

AnonymousEverything was spot on
…venue..breakfast..after match beverage and snacks but the weigh in was not good at all…If you have 120 anglers and it takes 1 min to weigh every one thats 2 hours…….
Id like to thank Mark Williams for his contribution, from what i saw he weighed every body in!!!!!!
Tks

TF_chunkyloverParticipanteach angler with two nets !!!
It needed three or even different sets of scales going around, I would have loved to have stopped for the presentation but unfortunately 4.30 all out and I think it was 7.00 before I got weighed. I had an hour forty five journey to go at then.
