REPORT
Long Eaton Victoria Angling Society’s 2010 Championship Match 3 was fished on a ‘new venue’ for most competitors, the Match Lake at Fisherwick Park, Whittington, near Litchfield, in blisteringly hot conditions.
In spite of the match clashing with England v Germany in the World Cup, there was an excellent attendance. Unfortunately the sport enjoyed was as good the football results.
Before the match the resident carp could be seen swimming around near the surface of the lake, and with a continuation of this throughout, plus the fact that the (rumoured) bream failed to feed, competitors found sport very had to come by.
Top weight fell to in form Dave Mayo with a four carp catch of 22 lb 9 oz from peg 7. Dave fished pellet waggler throughout to tempt his fish.
John Adamson caught a 8 lb 6 oz carp on pellet fished up in the water on long pole for second place from peg 9, Keith White was third with 7 lb from peg 21,followed by Adam Chester with 6 lb 12 oz from peg 5 and Carl Henrick with 6 lb from peg 18.
Match 4 (for the Victoria Cup) will be on Grange Pond (Long Eaton) on Sunday 4 July. Names to Dave Kent please
