TF_PaddyJust got one, the 6mm version, and put the first can of meat through it – how good is that??!!
Well done Map, a great bit of kit.
when you compare it on cost alone to some of the better metal meat cutters that are available, there is no comparison really, the Map wins hands down in my opinion.
The blade changes are so simple and there’s no wires to break or get stuck in your fingers.
It looks dead easy to wash after use as well being plastic bodied in it’s manufacture. -

Anonymousit looks dead easy to wash pmsl ha ha, got a map and a maver and a tilly, the tilly wins hands down all way round. Worst to wash by a country mile is the map, pain in the ass

TF_PaddyWhy? you can remove the blades, got no wires and it’s got big holes all round it to get one of them cup/mug mops down it!!
Looks easier than the metal wired jobbies that i have at the moment, but i will bow down to your knowledge if that’s what you reckon! -

TF_Sharp HookThe MAP meat cutter can’t be easier to wash. Take blades out a wash under the tap. Bung the reset in the top of the dishwasher.
What could be simlper? -

TF_boydieParticipantI bought one of these a couple of months ago but only used it for the first time this week – brilliant, can’t fault it. Just chucked it straight in the washing up bowl gave it a quick scrub and it’s like new.
Admittedly it takes up a bit more room in the carryall than normal cutters but I do mine at home and freeze it anway. -

Anonymousit’s the fiddly bit that pushes against the meat that’s the problem and the small blades, and I don’t have a dishwasher, Tilly is by far the best imo

mapmikeThe 4mm version works just like all the other sizes as long as you soak the meat in hot water for 20 seconds or so before putting it through the cutter. This is explained on a small leaflet when you purchase the 4mm size.
Soaking the meat only applies to the 4mm size, as the surface area is greater than all the other blade sizes.

TF_wezzygot one yesterday and had a few trial runs with err think i prefer my tilleys as already said hard to clean manually especially the the 4mm plunger bit i ended up running a sharp knife up and down the rows to get the meat out of the tiny crevices find it fiddly as well and as already said quite bulky to use on the bank so best done at home ah well back to the drawing board map

mapmikeIt’s not really designed to be cleaned manually, It’s been designed to be cleaned inside a dishwasher, which most households have. So with regards to the cleaning of the plunger heads you should have no problem in a dishwasher.

mapmikeWith regards to the size, don’t forget you can store another set of blades inside the cutter unit itself. How big would two or three wire cutters be if your carried them around? Most anglers cut there meat at home due to cans being banned on the bank, so the size is not really a major issue.

Fluro-PinkieParticipantno wires to slice a finger end off (yes i know but i did manage it)
piece of pee to use and swap blades
so long as the meat is at room temp it cuts em all with easefor washing the plunger i bought the misses one of them brushes on a stick, she says it works a treat, also handy for her lasagne dinners.
Bloody brilliant bit of kit, and i do sometimes carry mine with me.

mapmikeWezzy, you can still use it on Festivals just like many have (and are) at White Acres this spring. So there is no need to drag a dishwasher around with you! It doesn’t need to be cleaned after every time you use it when you are away?
Far better than taking spare wires, and a screw driver to a Festival with you?

TF_Mikey .J.Dont get all this nonsense about cleaning them, how often do they really need to be cleaned? Its only for cutting meat to chuck in a lake…not for your plate at tea time! Ive cleaned mine once and it was easy.
Best meat cutter by a MILE on the market.
