Got the chance to buy a maver m57 with plenty of spares but I am unsure of what the pole will handle and the elastic rating. I can only really afford one pole so it must be able to cater for most situations. I do have a marjin pole for bagging.

I’ve got the N57 which supeseeded the M57 and I’m happy to use purple hydro in the power kits in open water using 0.18 straight through, however a lot of anglers I know would only use black hydro.

I know a couple of lads who have the M57 and do use it for carping. Although it will handle commercials without ny problems, it’s not a pole I’d recommend for the inexperienced as broken sections can be very expensive.

Price wise I’ve seen the N57 going from £800, (standard pole) – £1200 for the Gold package, (11.5m carp pole included) depending on spares.
          The M57 should cost less.

sorry my mistake its the N 57 I can get. but seems strong if your using .18. had any breakages in general use.

The N57 is as good as any top of the range match pole on the market, however it is not one of the strongest poles and it’s not a pole that I’d recommend for an inexperienced pole angler.

Even though I may use heavier elastics than some anglers would recommend for this pole I’m very experienced at catching big weights of carp on a regular basis and I know exactly how much pressure I can exert without breaking any sections.

The only section that I have broken was my own fault when I dropped the pole off the roller.

Personally if I was buying this pole I would only buy it if it was the Gold package as the carp pole gives you added insurance that if you break a section on the match pole you will still have a spare in the carp pole and be able to contine fishing. You also have to bear in mind that the standard N57 is a £2500 pole and the spares if you should need any will not be cheap.

I have had the N57 for 12 months and would echo Dave Brittain’s thoughts.Stiff, light and fine for most jobs.If you have a decent margin pole, the gold package is not essential, though definately preferable.

I haven’t had any problems, though there was an issue at one point regards cupping kits,so be sure to source one before committing.

Cheers Duffman. Will get pole as the pole comes with 7 top 4`s and cupping kit, dolly section and 2 extensions which take it to 19m it is in as new condition.cost would be £1100.
