That’s a life changing sum of money and will undoubtedly lead an element of match anglers astray, Phil Briscoe will have to keep a very, very tight reign on the whole process or things could turn ugly IMO.

            That said, the concept has a lot going for it, most importantly of all, is the fact the qualifiers are all held at the weekends thus;

            saturday 2nd April Viaduct Fishery
            sunday 3rd April Lindholme Lakes
saturday 9th April Stafford Moor Fishery
            saturday 16th April Octoplus Boldings
            saturday 23rd April Barford Lakes
sunday 24th April The Oaks @ sessay
            saturday 30th April Viaduct Fishery

            saturday 14th May Moorlands Farm
            saturday 21st May Whiteacres
            saturday 28th May Willinghurst Fishery
            saturday 4th June Larford Lakes
saturday 11th June Stafford Moor Fishery
            saturday 18th June Lindholme Lakes
            saturday 25th June Barston Lakes
            saturday 2nd July Woodland View
            saturday 9th July Hallcroft Fishery
saturday 16th July Tunnel Barn Farm
            sunday 17th July Heronbrook Fisheries
            saturday 23rd July Larford Lakes
sunday 24th July The Oaks @ sessay
            saturday 30th July Makins Fisheries
            sunday 31st July Hallcroft Fishery

Mid week matches would drive the cost of competing through the roof for the full time working angler.

There are many interesting elements to consider about all of this, and one of the most interesting, will be to see if the Fisho’mania format will be forced to change as a consequence, to date, Fisho has had no serious rival……..time will tell if this has changed, and if anglers will benefit directly as a knock on effect, or worse, the reverse could happen and it could spell the end for Fisho……… one thing is for sure, this Maver concept is going to have a very serious long term influence on Match fishing , I truly hope and pray it will be a positive influence for all of us, I do have some niggling doubts though.
