TF_macca63I’ve had a couple of Maver poles the problem is the name/number of the pole isn’t specifically marked on the sections so they could send you anything and you wouldn’t know and one of the reasons I wouldn’t buy another – broke a section on my 501 they replaced it but no way knowing if it was off the same pole – totally different shade, also a mate had a cheaper pole and a couple of the top kit codes on mine and his both matched. The section numbering system seems to follow no logic tbh

The section numbering system seems to follow no logic tbhI have seen your review of the 501 on pole compare, rang maver uk and they do not even no whats what the lady who i spoke to said the numbers on the sections were batch codes,i can not believe that maver do not no whats what like you say there is no logic to it,in your review you say its light and stiff well mines far from that i would go so far as to say that its pretty much unfishable at 14.5 metres,i did buy it used which is why i have been trying to find out about the codes to make sure it is a proper 501,my 371 is a better pole, going back to the sections i bought a new no5 for my 371 a while ago and it did come with a small sticker on it saying that it was a 371 no 5 it had the section number on it which is b5095 and the sticker is still on there despite using it countless times,i will get to the bottom of this as i belong to 2 clubs and someone must have a 501 for me to compare,if i buy any more new sections unless the sticker is on its going back, thanks for your reply anyway.

TF_mrrbpooleAs far as I know the white sticker is the only thing that will ID it as that particular pole section. As previously stated, the other letters and numbers on the section refer to the batch when it was made so refferance can be sought, if there are issues with it. The shade should be the same though, unless its from a different pole. 😮

Anonymouswell looks like i was right the 501 that i bought on here is not right, the no6 section is 7 and a quarter inches longer than what a 501 no 6 is, the pole starts to go at 13m which it really should be arrow straight.

TF_lionel44Name and shame him, and ask for your money back, he will know if he has pulled a fast one, I looked at buying the same 501.

TF_macca63Glad you read the review of the 501, i’m not afraid to tell it how it is, the pole itself was stiff and light however the number 6 just exploded whilst shipping out and lost faith in the thing and sold it – the guy who bought it also read the review I wrote and I was up front about the section replacement. If you watch the Maver DVD’s think the Commercial Sense 6 & 7 a couple of them have poles with different colour number 5’s & 6’s so its a common issue with their range – it’s OK having codes with a batch number on but they should print on the the number of the pole its from so you know you are not getting ripped off when buying a replacement.

AnonymousIts the stiff and light bit that i can not see,it is the heaviest pole i have ever used what i would love to do is compare it with another 501,so if there is anyone out there who lives in dorset/hampshire who has one will give you a good drink to meet up and compare.
