Anonymous4,758 posts but only about 3 where related to angling. The rest of his posts where banter and taking the p out of ppl on this site. I even started to think of him as a forum mate and enjoyed seeing him on the bank at some of this forums matches. Shame that he moved totally to that other site with the aim of attempting to destroy this site (In my opinion). Yep, i can feel the love, Geepster.

TF_MICK THE BOOKIEI only got to know Colin through this site like many others. He was a top poster, and had the knack of stimulating banter and angling arguments.I know many who have met him,and fished with him,and all of them speak highly of the little chap.He does quite a bit for charity and helps many who have suffered in some way.It was imo a major loss to this site to lose Colin and his forum pals who left to start up MS.Lets hope that he and his mob stay in touch, even if its just to wind us all up….Hes the Guvnor at achieving that.

TF_CutnutIn his own peculiar small way I’m sure he is basking in the limelight that he has always sought and continues to seek. Simply by adding to this post has given him more self-importance and raised his estimations. There is always a fine line between taking the rise and becoming a source of irritation and Colin always walks it with both feet but not always with one following the other.
Of the many pictures of Colin that have adorned the web and the odd magazine, most show him in a state of near rapture. I’m oft reminded of the Terry Gilliam clip of the man with the dancing teeth when I see a BNF opportunity pic.
Needless to say the TF site has become quieter and more relaxed with fewer bait takers since his leaving.

AnonymousJustin Case. I am bitter. The little power seeking so-in-so banned me from the other site for something i said on this site. It was not an attack against that site or any individual members of either site. Geepster even told BnF to back right off when he went in for an attacked after clearly miss reading or taking offense to what i had posted. Next thing i was banned from that site. I had a discussion over the issue by e-mail (I still have the e-mails). However, BnF was not prepared or interested in reading my post again in the context that everybody else on this site understood it to be. So, i was banned! Thats one thing. I also remember what was written on that site in the first few weeks of the site opening. Several of those aware of the new site PMed me to make me aware of those personal attacks. Mainly, posts by BnF. So, i think i have every right to feel the love for BnF and what he really is.

The Dangler paste virginSome interesting posts~think however the point i was making TB is that as it was on a typical night 20 guys would be logged on here talking fishing and having banter and now?I wont get into your argument with BNF because it isnt any of my buisness and ive no intrest in stoking it further.Your posts for what it is worth regarding actual fishing are amongst the first things i look for on here and are usually very well set out and easy for Noddys like me to understand. As you say BNF more went in for wind ups but he also very often got thought provoking threads going initially before taking a backward step probably because he never had the knowledge of somebody like yourself. He never claims to be a great angler and when i first met him the impression i got was he was a guy wanting to get better by fishing with and getting answers from better anglers like yourself. He has some cracking ideas and his enthusiasm cant be faulted when it comes to organising stuff the fact most of the better anglers have gone to the other site would suggest he is giving them something different to this one.Nobody is or should be above constructive criticsm but some of the attacks on guys like Keith Arthur and Steve Ringer where an absoloute disgrace at times does that happen on the other site?
-
18/06/2010 at 10:14 pm #108027
TF_NW Cut AnglerNobody posts much on the other sites. A criticism of the members on that site not me. The reason given is that people say things on chat box. Steve Ringer actually made a post on the site saying how few decent threads there were.
It irks how people come from other sites intent on creating problems. Problems that do not exist.
Once upon a time, angling forums enjoyed a cordial relationship with other sites. BNF and co changed that and did so willingly and deliberately.

I come on ask a question and if i get some answers im over the moon by the same token i try to give back what little help i can in return, for me thats the point of coming here. Also the lack of threads may well be down to the abundance of blogs some of them are a cracking read and it is a real shame that folk miss out on them.

TF_geepsterParticipantExactly True Blue – so do I! Dodge it’s my way of asking politely if he feels the time is right to come back and start posting again (without begging).
The traffic figures don’t lie Dodge, the number of unique users has been consistently over 30,000 for the last 12 months.
I have a list of the top 20 (busiest, in terms of traffic) UK fishing websites in front of me – interestingly only one is a manufacturer’s site.
Bet you can’t get guess which one it is though.

We are all back now
Friday it fished its pants off, 212lb won it from pool 5,
I reckon there was possibly 20 over a ton, end pegs dominated mostly, and you needed 145lb to get in the top 6, The weather was warm and sunny and a tad too flat, if we had got a slight ripple I think we would have caught a hell of a lot more.
Today was very windy and bloody cold, most having to get additional clothing from the wagons at one point I was shivering the fishing was a tad down on the previious day 140lb winning, again the end pegs dominated with the exception of pool 1 where peg 10 won the lake with only 89lb. carefull feeding seemed to be the key on day 2 especially on pool 1.
The beer was flowing in the Shoot most people were obliterated by the time the footie ended.
Good times were had by all

TF_wightanglerHave to say BNF and his work and success in cajoleing well known anglers and companies is one of the main reasons why MFS has become successful.
His banter is missed immensely and the fact that he’s not the best angler in the world was one of his major attributes paradoxically.
A lot of us use both sites and get rather perplexed by some of the petty rivalry and illwill by a few people – harly condusive for friendly banter and some positive inter site rivalry which Geeps and his post endorses.I do hope that anglers will support and use both sites since both have their own charachterstics and preferences which has got to be good for match angling as a whole.

Merce1I visit and attend events from both sites. I like BNF and his crew and also Gareth and the TF gang.
When a new business market is discovered, the firm that grabs the land quickest steals a march on the others (first mover advantage). Other competitor firms then open up, often as off-shoots of the original business. This happens repeatedly until there are too many suppliers for the number of customers (maturation) and the market then consolidates ie firms merge or acquire each other, resulting in a smaller number of stable businesses.
If the evolution of interest-based websites is anything like the evolution of businesses, then we probably should ‘feel the love’ between different sites, as we will probably be re-united in the fullness of time!

TF_Maver MickNever met the guy but enjoyed his posts and sense of humour. Like most of the best posters ie swimfeeder true blue etc there is allways some contoversey but this used to provate some good debates, untill it gets spoiled by a few. I got the impression Billy No Fish wanted more involvement with the site running so his answer was to start is own. Me personally am not a member of MFS but remain on this site. Would just like more posts from swimfeeder and true blue. Before anyone asks why i do not start many posts i do not have the literary tallents of the aforementioned.

TF_Billy no FishParticipantWell, what a strange thing, asking me to come back, very nice though. Let me clear up a few misconceptions. I didn’t leave to set up another site, a few of us had a different idea and because of my nature things evolved to what we have on Matchfishingscene now. It’s a members site run by them for them.
Contrary to popular belief i am rather busy with things other than fishing and MFS. I don’t have time to post on both regularly.
I understand what Merce was saying!!! Things must be bad!! Thanks for the nice things that have been said. Now to my detractors. I don’t care what you say about me. Your opinion doesn’t matter to me. You may not agree with the decisons made about the two of you but that’s life, deal with it.
I hope Caster Rob is well, he has had a rough ride the past few years but his humour and ability to wind people up has me in stiches.
Swimfeeder (Bob) is legendary. Always controversial but a better bloke for knowing.
They don’t post on MFS, their choice but i’d have a beer with both. Let’s face it fishing is our hobby and forums are just another outlet to enjoy it.
If i have upset anyone then you know me, i couldn’t care less, if you bit, i won!!! Ha ha ha!!

TF_SwimfeederBNF (Colin) for the record, and you already know this, I do not have a problem with you or any of the posters on MFS, with the exception of McMad.
I stand by my original thinking though, again you already know this, but for the record,
I believe too many forums cause division in Internet angling communities, at a time when match angling needs to stand together more than ever, the last thing it needs is another “clique”.
I know MFS creates a great deal of good ,positive and forward thinking concepts and ideas…….I just wish those concepts and ideas could have emerged from this site, after-all, most,if not all of the MFS members were “born” on the TF site, myself included, that said what is done, is done, and I wish you and your “clan” all the best for the future, but again you know that.

TF_Jadstar70Constantly look in, several times a day in fact.
Some of the old posters on here still make me smile, I think BNF has touched on that already. When I joined MFS I continued to post on both sites, but pretty soon it was obvious there were a few around that made you feel unwelcome on this site if you were an active member of another site. There were rumours and unjustified allegations all around and this led to a divisive culture between the two sites and people quickly nailed their colours to the appropriate mast(head)
This then escalated into a pretty petty “us and them” scenario (I’m as guilty as many for helping fuel this probably as well, let him that cast the first stone and all that)Hopefully this fractious regard is now put to bed? I think I have muted a few times last year on both sites about a challenge match, and what a wasted opportunity we have of creating something like that between us all.
Talk about bragging rights to end all bragging rights!~sickWe have just had a “Glebe Weekend”, my 4th Internet Glebe weekender the previous three being with TF (2) and MFS, they were all as enjoyable as each other- there were many many people from both sites who share one common ground, they just like fishing~clap
I mainly stay on MFS as most of the people I fish matches with are there, most matches are organised on there tbh (NOT A DIG AT TF!)
I didn’t join a local club this year, we decided to have a year fishing the Internet matches for a change.
Kev 34 is running a match of teams of three this year as last, which encompasses both sites, and I’m really looking forward to that. The point I am trying to make is, life really is too short, you are a long time dead to be wasting energy on things that don’t really matter!
-
23/06/2010 at 10:10 am #108428
TF_geepsterParticipantI agree with all of that Jadstar – let’s try and put all of it behind us. Life’s too short, match fishing needs unity, and fishing is supposed to be fun.

A fun day out match fishing with some old friends would be a good thing for both forums. Real bragging rights for the winning forum and maybe we could raise some cash for a charity of the winning sites choice!

AnonymousNot by me, Snooty Fox. I,ve always given credit when its due. So, well done, mate! Oh, and you get that from some on all sites. 13 tins of corn and 6 pints of hemp sounds about right from what i know of the Glebe. You cannot do anything more than draw your peg. Fish it well and win! Those who moan about you drawing well are just bad losers. Keep up the good work where info is concerned on both sites. As you know, i,ve never drawn a bad peg according to some. However, how many good pegs have they messed up? lol

TF_Fred DavisI can’t understand all this rivalry, anglers are anglers and it’s nice to meet most of them 99% are very decent chaps, salt of the earth, as for an intersite match suggested by true blue between MFS & TF if it helps to form friendships as opposed to try to settle old scores, then I’m all for it, Innitially the intersite series was set for lads with an interest in match fishing /angling from the websites to meet up get to know the names of posters and have a friendly days fishing with a bit of friendly banter and a beer afterwards.
However rivalry between sites intensefied and the win or loose well have a booze brigade seem to have upped the anti, sadly I don’t think the early days of a friendly meet can ever be recovered,I hope I’m wrong things evolve over time the serious brigade climbed aboard and the early innocence was easily lost replaced by site rivalry which as many have said is rather silly as most good anglers post on a variety of sites.
I sincerely hope I’m wrong and we can recapture those days when anglers turned up to greet and meet as the main part of the day.

AnonymousI understand what your saying fred. However, TF and MFS are for the most part old friends. It might also help to heal a few wounds that where created by attacks and wind ups/set ups!

Like Steve May, Merce and about 15 others who participate in both sites I have just fished the TF and MFS Glebe weekends. I think it was 17 or 18 (out of 65/60 attendees) who fished both! Each slightly different but equally enjoyable.
There was a similar mix at the Duane Seckington Memorial match at Alders.
