TF_DishyfishTea bag any chance you can arrange a match this Sunday at willy. Those carp (4 carp) must be staving. Your the man and the voice there. The old lake if any must be worth a go.. Why wait for the butterflies…

TF_teabagI’m afraid I can’t for this weekend, I was granted a weekend pass and have booked myself out elsewhere to have a change this weekend. lol
Can sort one for the weekend after if anyone interested ?? (13th or 14th)
Maggot is working best at present.
New Lake should be empty by then with the under 10lbs gone into Top Lake and the larger fish to christmas Tree/Main Lake.
Things are starting to look better for the future there, the first step of restocking has been done, and they were not Carp~clap -

TF_DishyfishGreat news lets get Willinghurst back on the map. As Topflights said slowly slowly catch a monkey!! Give it time and learn from the mistakes. Ground bait limit if any at all infact that lake should have a limit of bait all round, untill the lake flourishes again. There will be some big matches coming up, and we dont want to see what happened to this lake the last time again.
Maybe save it for the cooler months for when the carp are least active. Because that is the time when the matches there cease, while people go other places. Not a problem in the warmer months, always going to be anglers wanting to fish matches. Lets have a winter venue ~clap ~clap With no Dorking LOL LOL.

TF_RossnMark,
Did you actually see the fish moved from New Lake ?. How many went into each of the other lakes ?
Sounds like another bum deal for the match anglers, lots of OUR fish moved up to THEIR lakes….to be replaced by ?????????????
-

TF_teabagRoss, New lake is due to be netted next week, Tuesday was the last I heard.
Not sure if a bum deal is quite right ??, the larger 10lbs+ will be gone but all <10lbs will be staying in the smaller lakes, still more of the <10lbs to come down from Main and Christmas tree, stock pond is full of small carp and barble ready to moved around, personally i think enough carp are in the place and they just need to get the levels right for each lake, restocking other species in all lakes would be my concern, and would like to see a couple being left carp free.
The plan as I see it is to be left with Main and Christmas tree as specci and rest as pleasure/match, =2 specci and 9 pleasure/match lakes

TF_Rossnand would like to see a couple being left carp free.
I don’t think that there’s ANY commercial fishery where they originally built a silver fish lake that is still a silver fish lake now. When push comes to shove nobody wants to fish for 4oz skimmers in the middle of summer and clubs just won’t book the lake. Didn’t Pittance start life as a silver fish lake ?.
still more of the <10lbs to come down from Main and Christmas tree, stock pond is full of small carp and barble ready to moved around, personally i think enough carp are in the place and they just need to get the levels right for each lake
They netted all of the small fish out of Main & Xmas Tree last year, can’t see them lowering the levels again to do exactly the same exercise
all <10lbs will be staying in the smaller lakes
Let’s hope so. I think there’s an awful lot of carp between 5 and 10 lbs in that lake, it’d be great to see them moved to Top Lake.
The plan as I see it is to be left with Main and Christmas tree as specci and rest as pleasure/match, =2 specci and 9 pleasure/match lakes
Be nice if that were true….bottom lakes for pleasure and match i.e. NO BIVVIES on lower lakes and in return we’ll promise not to fish Main or Xmas Tree, day or night ~clap

TF_teabagthe <10lbs from New are planned for Top, hopefully it will be enough to bring Top back into the match scene again~think
Too many smaller carp are still being caught in Main Lake, there is no way they will net it again so I am planning to spend time on the lake fishing it and moving them myself.
A carp free lake is what I would like to see, I’m sure it would pay for it self ok, like you say winter busy and summer quite, opposite to the other lakes.
No bivies on the bottom lakes, lol
That would be financial suicide for the place, 20 or 30 spread round the smaller lakes some nights at £25 a pop, the best it could get is no nights on a lake before a match. -

Anonymouswhat would be good idea if toplake was drained and scraped before any new fish were added and johns lake left for a good year for the new fish to settle….~think

TF_teabagSqueaky, doing one lake a year would be best and the worst silted up lake is New Lake, Top still has a reasonable depth to it, the only problem pegs are 27, 28 and the bomb hole which are too shallow when levels drop in summer. I’ve not heard when they plan to knock through and join that silly add on bit to the bomb hole~think
Would think Johns Lake will be fine for matches next autumn/winter, it’s not a new lake now (2years old) and not all new fish in it ~think

TF_DishyfishSqueaky roller you are dead right!! Sort that top lake out, because that was the one which drew all the attention. Do it professionally so its done right. And leave Johns till the winter!! Then we have a all year round venue ~clap ~clap

Anonymousmark i’m not telling you to suck eggs mate…buts its not as if willinghurst hasn’t got the kit to do it,and moving fish around is ok for the short term, but the team at willinghurst need to look at the long term and not quick fixes..other wise you might find you’re selfs back at square one..and you may not recover ~think
and just think that silt removed from the lakes will make a cracking fertiliser for the christmas trees.. ~clap ~clap

TF_teabagSqueaks, My answers may sound like i’m being a bit funny, but there not supposed to be ~hand
It would be nice for Top to be done aswell, but I can’t see them even thinking about doing it yet, New lake is in desperate need and has less than 2ft of water in parts and not much deeper in the other parts, god knows how the fish survived when it was iced over for weeks.
If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your reason for Top to be done so quick?, I put the oxygen crash down to the lake being grossly overstocked, over fished from matches and on top of that the aerator packed up on a very warm stormy night~think
And what do you mean about finding themselves back at square one, they are there. lol
-

TF_MARKHLDAS~think I do hope your right cos it’s lovely looking fishery that has kicked my RSE far to many times and it will stop the WillH mafia invading my matches.
Good Luck !

mark, toplake is you’re number one lake and money maker with out question, its the lake every one wants to fish be it matchmen or pleasure anglers, its imperative you get it right as it will set the standered for the rest of the fishery. You’ve also more or less got a blank canvas so if it was my fishery i would start there…stocking wise, crucians roach rudd, bream tench carp common and mirrors, gudgeon and perch..would i stock ide chub and barbel f1’s ? no i would keep it traditional with a good mix and balanced lake in mind…but it’s not down to me but to the powers that be ~think

TF_teabagTop lake was the top dog with the matches, and it will be again if they would just restock it , mixed fish would be best like you say because when winter came and the carp stopped feeding there was nothing to fish for. I most probably misread you, but I thought you were wanting the diggers in on Top lake to reshape it? – that was the part I could not understand.
New lake has always been the money maker with pleasure anglers and Old lake coming a close second over the last couple of years, think New lake won because it’s nearest to carry your gear from the car and the cafe is next door, might all change this year depending with what they restock New Lake with.

Anonymousmark…monks lake 1 had a similar fate..and they more or less lost the lot, they are draining the lake and scraping the lake down to its original bottom..and restocking it a bit later ect, personal thought i think toplake should be as well..~think
