        Hi all,
I have a match at Boddingtons this Thursday on pegs 75 to 95 and my mate says he is going to fish heavier as the fish are not line shy.
I generally fish 5lb main and was intending to use this for the match but he says 12lb with 8lb hook length.
I think this is a bit heavy . What do you think and what line would you use.

        Tony.

On the MFS match last week I used a 6lb reel line.
Hooklenghths for the method were 0.17 Guru (6lb).

Married with a Medium (not heavy) feeder rod, the above was fine. I would sy if you’re going to use a power rod (no need in my opinion) then you would need to fish heavier.

By the way, there was 27 of us and I had 137lb for 16th place ~sick

6-8lb reel line would be fine, you do not need to go any higher than that

              Snoots is right mate.

I used a heavy feeder rod with 8lb sensor and a .19 4″ hooklink on a Kobra brass neck 25g method with purple laccy.
I was chucking a good 30 yrds further than everyone else and started off like a train- but those that fed and fished closer got stronger as the match wore on. They moved in and I couldnt keep in touch with them.
In hindsight I didnt need to fish at that distance.

Dont neglect a pole line, last Saturday threw some bif pole weights up on pegs 71-90 when most of us were advised not to bother, bomb and PW.
Method and then pole worked very well in those numbers.

My advice would be start long and feed a shorter line constantly and keep looking over that with a method/Bomb or PW.

Last 90 mins try a 5m pole line thats been fed too.

              Top pegs Saturday

              97 343lb
              88 269lb
              83 249lb
              89 205lb
              98 199lb
              76 197lb
              78 197lb

You should be in for a good day.
