Ive always used preston method feeders along with either the preston connectors or the korum quick change beads, but recently ive changed to drennans..the reason is simply down to liking the idea behind the drennan connector, so i can change from method to bomb, and also the size of the method etc…
now last weekend was the first time ive used the drennans, and i couldnt get on with the moulds at all! just couldnt get it out in one piece! also how the hell do you thread the loop through the method feeder? do you need a long baiting needle to pull it through?
im thinking now of going back to the prestons, simply because the moulds have the quick release button and is easy to get out, but using the drennon connectors with a long baiting needle to pull loop through…
or is there any better alternatives???

btw my club insists on inline free running feeders/bombs only

        thanks!

Go back to the Preston Method and Mould. Cant beat it, or the quality

Keep the method mould wet, by keeping it in water in a bait box. The pellets need to be damp & not too wet, if they are they will stick in the mould. Try sprinkling the pellets with swim stim or method mix.
              Regards Peter.

yeah thats what im doing, thing is if/when i do want to change method size or weight, or change to a bomb then back to a method it means i have to bite off the loop and re tie another, seems a bit pointless and wastes time IMO. i was infact using groundbait not micros at the weekend, still i cant see the micro mould coming out intact out of the drennan mould? looks like i will go back to prestons moulds/feeders with drennan connectors and look for a long baiting needle to pull loop through……
                thanks guys!

I bought several drennan feeders and mould and found it difficult at first I had to make it work because I’m damn sure I wasn’t spending any more money, put some grease inside your mould I used a load of the greasy scummy water off your meat

I’ve been using the Drennan Feeders last year after years of using the Preston ones, i now prefer them as they cast better and can carry more feed.

I experienced issue getting the feeder out in the beginning but overcame that by sticking my nails on the edge of the feeder and pulling it out slightly while gently pressing down on the base of the mould and out it comes. i do this regardless of if i’m using pellets or crumb.

I’ve not had to resort to keeping the mould damp or lightly grease it just use it as it come out of my bag.

I mate I experienced this problem to start with. What I have found is if you squeeze the sides of the mould quite firmly after you have compressed the bait on it releases a lot better.

If you want a method threader go to ted carter they stock a loop threader brilliant for threading method feeders. Also the best mould for drennan feeders is the matrix large mould also from ted carters.

the guru mold fits the small feeder
the drennan is best for long range it dose not wobble in flight i can get more range our of the drennans
with the drennan mold not had a isue with it at all sticking once i drilled 4x 3mm holes in it to alow air into it for getting out in one
