when fishing the method do you boys differ the hook size to match the size of the hair rigged bait for eg if you use an 18 with a 6mm pellet would you step up to a 16 for an 8mm pellet+so on im only wondering after beating myself up all day after loosing two valuable carp y.day with hook pulls after using size 18 with 8mm pellet + thought the hook looked small compared to the pellet~think

I use a size 16 PR36 for 8mm and a 14 for 11mm. But the key is the hair distance from the bend of the hook to the pellet. The bigger the bait the greater the distance.
