Hard pellet, 6mil for feed and on the hook either long on the sunken island, at the base of the island or in deep water if you haven’t got the island and also short. don’t feed too much or you’ll end up foulhooking.
if you’ve got a margin peg which will likely only be the four corner pegs fish maggots.
If you wanted you could probably catch a skimmer a bung short on expanders but doub’t as that would win anything.

Forget meat, I fished it short on the last match a couple of weeks ago, struggled and when I changed to hard pellet caught well and finished 4lb off winning.

The weekly open is on there Saturday and all I will have on my bait tray are 6 mil pellets, maggots for the edge and may be a few 8 mil pellets for chucking a bomb if it’s windy and holding the pole is a problem.

It’s not on the moat every week, he rotates it round all the lakes to fit in with the club matches. we don’t know till the previous week where it is.
If you put a post on here next week ( to remind me cos I’m likely to forget lol) I’ll put the weights up from this weekend and from what pegs.

Some good weights on the Moat last Saturday, mostly at the far end of the lake possibly helped a bit by the wind blowing that way.
Charlie Shaw won it off Peg 16 with 125lb, brilliant weight all on hard 6mil pellet, 2nd was 85lb on end peg 13 as far as I know on hard pellet and had some shallow fish.
                3rd 83lb on peg 11, hard pellet.
4th 82lb from peg 21 on hard pellet. next was myself peg 25 79lb. there was a 73lb from peg 15.
If it was me the only thing I would have on my bait tray would be 6 mil hard pellets, maybe a few 8’s as a change bait, I know Charlie would tell you the same and no one catches more than him on there.
I only had 3 or 4 fish on my short line but I was at the near end of the lake. I’ve had maybe 15 carp on the island some on my feed but a few a metre or so either side.
                Hope that helps

yeah, pretty much the same. I’d have some dead maggs for if I had an edge peg, say peg 21 and fish to peg 20 platform.

we fished in the open last Saturday and no change from what I said originally on here.
Kempy won it off peg 4 with 131lb on hard 6 mil pellet. Charlie was second off peg 13 with 128lb all on hard pellet, I was 3rd off peg 21 with 117lb again on hard pellet. everyone caught all over the lake.
The sunken island is pretty much down the middle of the lake with a couple of gaps peg 19 20 and opposite on peg 10 ,11. peg 13 you would need 17m to get to the island but shouldn’t be on it as that’s more than halfway.

The lake is down a bit so it’s fairly shallow in parts on the island and the fish were really spooky on it last Saturday. I fished a long line shallow rig which seemed better and also caught at 9 metres in the deeper water at the base of the island.

I hope you start a trend here of “spilling the bean” on a fishery. Its great to read reports on fisheries like this. Far too often you see questions being ask with little or no responses. Its bad enough hearing that junior rod license sales are down. Lets give the younger anglers out there all the help we can.
                            Nice one mate
