floatmanParticipantHi all
There seems to be lots of rumours so here is things from my point of view
Yes many of the floats being sold on ebay are fakes
I am not and never sold this character bulk loads of floats. It is my name that is being wrongly used to sell goods and I have been and am persuing several means of putting this to a stop.
regards
Mick

TF_robboI’m ok Mick.
I’m a bit concerned about these fakes, and what effect that might have on your reputation. Can you email me on [email protected] and we’ll sort out what direction you would like TF to go regarding threads about all this.

TF_JohnHI hate to tar everyone with the same brush but my experience of ebay is that it is riddled with scammers.
Buyer beware.
I for one will buy nothing from ebay.
Good luck in your persuit of this guy Mick. -

TF_SmedI have also asked him a question about these floats,
i asked him if i could pick them up and pay cash in his hand, any genuine seller would snap my hand off, but no he said cheque or PO only and he would only deliver!!!
whats all that about???stinks of dodgy copys and mick saying so on here confirms it, dont know how ppl like this can just rip folks off like that!!
oh and there are ways to find out his address via ebay, but i think you have to buy something from him first??

Why is everyone jumping on the bandwagon bad mouthing that ebay seller for all we know he might be getting them off a friend and being told they are from mick wilkinson and not knowing any different, I bought some and they are perfectly fine, I used them at weekend and to be honest they are the best floats I have ever used. They dont look dodgy at all they are perfectly put together and believe me I inspected them with a fine eye as I too am sceptical of what I buy from ebay.

TF_carpmagicParticipantNoone is saying there is anything wrong with the floats, its the fact that he is saying they are Mick Wilkinsons when they arent which is bang out of order.

floatmanParticipantNewbie
I am Mick Wilkinson so believe me I know what I have made, as to the issue of the quality I cant pass any comment. what I can comment is that he has to sell them pretending to be mine and that I object to most strongly.
If a customer buys what he believes is mine and he has a problem, who gets the blame, the person who sold them or the person he believes makes them. -

TF_Happy DanglerI asked Bits and Bats the same question about the peas – he offered to give me Micks number to phone him and check out his story about the peas being made personally for him with the initials on…. I was going to be fishing with Mick a couple of days later on the Kennet anyway. When I said I’d be interested to see what the initials stood for he cracked me up with his response…. I wish I still had his replies but I don’t. This is the last email I sent him though in response to his mick made them for me reply

Dear bits_and_bats_4882,
No need to give me Micks number thanks I have it. I won’t bother ringing either as I’ll ask him when I see him. Will be interested to find out what the initials stand for…
Incidentally, when you advertise previous floats as being “like Mick Wilkinson Peas” then don’t be surprised when people assume the “originals” you are selling the following week are the same again.
Cheers

TF_yorkshireMakes you laugh really, last message i see was, if you cant beat them join them, we are now selling on ebay, we are assured not because big money is being made by the guys are selling them there ah hmmm ~think right!!! but to stop the shocking reselling.

TF_robboI think people have to ask themselves WHY Mick’s floats are so sought after.
The answer is ‘because they work and because they will continue to work due to the high commitment to quality Mick lavishes upon them’.
If you have never tried them, please don’t comment. I have never owned a Shimano pole, so I won’t pass comment on them -I see no difference.
But then am intelligent enough to work out when I know what I’m talking about.
Know nothing, say nothing.
Simple enough rule isn’t it?

Yeah and a bit further down he’s sold a modelling lathe….’perfect for making floats’ as he put it.
A dodgy photograph is usually a dead give away on eBay, peoples inability to take clear close up photos or utilise the macro facility on a camera usually means they have something to hide, in this case the fact that they are fakes.

I too noted that macca and also further down from that there is a shift from “like Mick Wilkinsons” to the current “mick Wilkinsons” I would say the fool has been knocking them out himself and thought he will be well in with the returns!!!! LOL

The seller buys literally 100`s of MW floats to sell on ebay. We have tried to stop him but at the end of the day he isnt breaking any laws……just a greedy person.

TF_nick_the_2ndIf the floats went for £3 each the guy selling them after paying the commissions has probably only made about a quid!
