TF_BIGDOUGIEParticipantHi I have £600 to spend on a new box have been looking at the new octbox by nordick tackle Rick Tyler, sounds a nice guy he has offered me the five draw with wheel kit and all the extras I need for my money now my problem is he says it will hold me no problem I told him how heavy I am and he said I will be fine I’m 28stone and 6.2 tall plus I’m buying blind as octbox can only be bought from him and that’s why he can keep the price down he. says if bought from shop it would easy be £1;000 pound box but I only seen videos on the net can anyone help me in my dilemma please.
Cheers fellow anglers

TF_Kagger TNBNever seen one of those boxes so can’t comment on the quality, but if it was me I’d be thinking of buying a recognised brand from a tackle shop.
The thing is, buying a box is a big investment. If you have a problem you want to know you can return it, or buy spares for it etc.
You don’t get that piece of mind with small independent manufacturers -

TF_rjaysGet a Milo 1100….will hold you and anyone sitting on your lap….8 drawes and attatchnents for around £250….one on the bay at the moment….only downside is the weight….you wont want to carry it over 3 meadows !!

TF_Fred DavisI don’t think the perfect box has yet been built it seems to be whatever you buy you have to compromise some aspect or other, my advice is have a good look at them all before you buy, there is no way I would buy a box without giving it the once over several times lol I use a tournament/ boss box but the footplate isn’t adjustable what I definitely don’t want is a cassette type footplate I have seen so many anglers have problems with these it’s unreal on rive Preston.,etc. these need to be made fool proof or slide easy

TF_markcThe Octbox is as near the perfect box currently on the market IMO.
I looked at them all before choosing the Octbox.
Have a look here http://www.maggotdrowning.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=160325
Search the same site for more info
& you will be rock solid & secure on the Octbox -

TF_markcDougie,
I bought mine direct from Rick at Evesham festival last year, so it was already assembled, however one of my clubmates has had the 5 draw plus loads of extras delivered just before xmas & found it very easy. The fact that you can refer to Ricks videos on the website makes it pretty foolproof.
You’ll find you can configure the box in many ways to suit your own requirements &
the conversion to barrow mode is simplicity itself.
You won’t regret buying Octbox 🙂 -

TF_allyParticipantGot fed up with the draws on my rive. I was going to have a go at making my own but then saw the Octbox, and it wasnt far off what I would have tried to make myself, so I just bought it instead . I am very glad I did as I doubt that I would have managed to get near it . I am just a lot lighter than you but its certainly more stable the legs are just that bit thicker and the bit they go through is longer. Only thing I found not to work for me was the side tray, I never use 3, 3 pint bait boxes.

TF_gaz rhad an octbox and the matrix superbox , now own the quadbox which imo is the best, but i would say youve made the right decision as i think the octbox is prob the strongest box out of the 3.
