        Report:
Only one competitor did not realise that the match times had changed this week to a 10:00 AM start, with booking in and draw times also brought an hour earlier. However, Phil Hunt still managed to find space for the latecomer in spite of the good attendance.

The cooler weather and shorter days have started to have an effect on sport, and although fish were harder to find in some areas most managed to have a decent day.

Last week’s runner-up Shane Sayers managed to go one better this week and stopped Andy Findlay’s three-match run of wins.

Shane drew peg A15 and started on the method feeder close to the island, producing a few fish, then realising his catch rate was low he switched to pole short and in his edges where he caught steadily to accumulate 123-12 for a clear win.

Andy Findlay was on peg A6 and started on the method feeder to the island which produced three early fish, then he realised that the fish were in the open water, switched to bomb and pellet, and caught steadily before ending on the pole in his margins to add some latecomers. His 103-03 gained him second place.

Despite having a nightmare match, Daz Milne (peg A8) took third place. He started on the method feeder tight over and caught several fish before being “cut off” and losing his feeder. He switched to bomb and pellet, found fish in the open water and caught carp steadily, then after around 2 hours things went wrong and he lost more fish than he landed. A switch to the pole didn’t alter his misfortune, he was broken several times (including losing his elastic), and was pleased at the end to be able to put 99-11 on the scales.

Grant Merritt (peg B15) filled fourth place for the final prize with 77-01, followed by Alan Hodgkinson (B22) with 67-01, Shaun Weed (A13) who had 51-00, Tony Lamb (B17) with 49-07, Rob Lowe (B3) on 38-02 and Steve Foster (A21) with 31-02. The remaining seven did not bother the scales.

The photos showing the top three are archive shots. Many thanks to Phil Hunt for running the match.

NB. Nisa Opens are held every Wednesday on Lake Two at Makins Fishery (see Facebook “Nisa – midweek open matches” to book a place).
