-
07/03/2010 at 11:04 pm #97510
TF_DodgeStainy Semi, between Barnsley,Shaky,Saints & Trentman for me ….. be a big surprise if any other team gets through but you never know !
Heronbrook ….. Aquatic Bingo this time of year !!! ~sick

MethodmanI’d like to think we’ll be a favourite to go through at Heronbrook but with the weather and the draw bag being a massive factor you never know!
-
08/03/2010 at 12:03 pm #97538
TF_the margin gnomeReal shame but it doesnt seem like heronbrook is going to be a fishing match but a lottery. How the draw is formulated is goin to have massive influence on the match. If its just pegged twelve pegs then next twelve pegs etc, they may as well just have a raffle in the caff!!
-
08/03/2010 at 12:11 pm #97539
MethodmanAbsolutely agree!
-
08/03/2010 at 12:15 pm #97540
kee lerryI fancy hotrods to mix things up on the Stainy, put a lot of time and effort in and had some help from good local anglers.
gonna be a great match though!
-
08/03/2010 at 2:17 pm #97550
TF_joffmiestertrentmen have a 100% record on the stainy whether it fishes poor or good they will be the team to beat
lee barnsleys record isn’t as good but i’l put you 2nd mate
then saints shakespeare and hotrodsi take it 4 teams go through now
-
08/03/2010 at 3:43 pm #97559
kee lerryIt is very hard not to bite to that Joff,
Good luck to all teams, I will let the result on sunday do the talking, but make no apologies for any I told you so’s… ha ha

best of luck mate so far the results have told the story on the teams going through running up to the semi’s
a least you have had some brilliant fishing mate what happened at the weekend -
08/03/2010 at 5:55 pm #97583
TF_ropaLee if you notice he wants both Trentmen and Quorn to win, both out of his league, it`s only so it makes his team look good!!!!~sick ~think

TF_saratogagot to be barnsley followed by trentmen and hot rods, just like to mention it as been great to get to know some of the hotrod lads, they are a superb bunch of lads and a proper team i wish you all the best for sunday you deserve all you get as you have put so much time in.
as for the rest shakespeare are a top team but a local team scunthorpe will not be far away.
barnsley have by far the strongest set of anglers in the country and when they gel as a TEAM they will be the best ever.
our semi on heronbrook seems like it is going to be a draw bag affair, problems with ice and practice matches being cancelled as not helped.
i believe commercials should only be used for semi’s when the weather as broken and fished at a later date around mid april to early may. -

TF_Kevin WHeard today Jon Arthur beat a five-times world champion at the next peg on the Stainy on Sunday by an infinitesimal amount… Jon had a perch and Alan Scotthorne blanked lol
-
08/03/2010 at 9:31 pm #97655
TF_carpmagicParticipantAlan said they werent sure if it was a perch or not such was its size! Apparently it didnt have the strength to pull the float under either!

and why would you be favourites??
1 ITS A DRAW BAG JOB! esp if neil pegs it like his normal leagues, with no care for where section’s start or end, just numbers too him!
2 YOUR TEAM OF INDIVIDUALS HAVENT PUT MUCH TIME IN REALLY???… admittedly some know it well!! (none more than some of our team!)
its a shame it isnt going too be a fishing match!!! as im quite sure your team our and drennan nw would be definates!!!!! but with the fishing so patchy and the pegging so hazey?? anything can happen!
-
09/03/2010 at 12:29 am #97674
TF_S.shallathen again your team is full of drawerbags!!!
-
09/03/2010 at 2:49 am #97677
MethodmanWe’ve only a slightly better chance than some others purely because some of the lads know the place like the back of their hand, no other reason than that, think you’ll find we didnt choose the venue.
As for being a team of individuals, we’ve fished together for over two years so your clueless pal. Sounds as though you could peg it better from your post, contact Neil.
-
09/03/2010 at 10:26 am #97696
TF_the margin gnomeNow now lads dunna be having a row!
Even on a peggy venue a team match can be made fairer by having some thought about the draw. In each team draw have bad pegs and good pegs. This match is about avoiding the DNW rather than 100lb. Problem with that is you have to think carefully about the draw and those who draw peg one aint always on peg one!
Couldnt help notice that Canal 8 was pegged in the section with the stick up pegs at the weekend. Impossible to compete with ANY peg in his section! The draw needs some thought imo.
-
09/03/2010 at 10:37 am #97697
TF_red_anglermargin gnome, on the individual league on sunday the 1st 2 sections on canal were, 2,4,6,8,10. then 12,14,16,18,20. no matter which section them stick ups are in some of you in the section are out of it, & thats in a 5 man section.
The semi will be a 13 man section, if you draw on the stick ups you should be in the top 2 of your section unless they all blank like what happened 2 wks ago!!!PS, hows boldings fishing?
-
09/03/2010 at 11:11 am #97702
TF_kwadejHi
Semi at Heronbrook is 12 man sections, not 13, and as much thought as possible will go into the pegging here as it does with every other semi. We all want it to be as good as it can be given the conditions. Not one person I have spoken to wants to see a DNW on a section sheet, I know Neil doesn’t.
But no matter how its done there will always be good and bad draws.
Lets wait and see how it fishes, congratulate those that have done well, then reflect on the semi.
See you Saturday

09/03/2010 at 12:18 pm #97707
Rod TubeWell said Mr Wade. In my opinion if you draw pegs 6 to 10 you should have a great chance of winning. The reason being they will have the most flyers in and the bad pegs in these aint that bad compared to some!!!!!! Thats if he pegs it as i think he will~think
-
09/03/2010 at 12:27 pm #97708
TF_red_anglerKen, just out of interest how do you decide which 10 pegs go into each team evelope?
I know the days of each team having the same number in each section are gone.Cheers
-
09/03/2010 at 12:32 pm #97710
TF_the margin gnomeAlright red. Boldings fishin ok. Plenty of bites. Has it’s bad days like everywhere at the mo but I can’t complain drawin well and have won 3 out of me last 4 there 🙂
I think the semi can be pegged ok with some thought. Def be blanks but most teams goin to suffer them if the fishing remains as is at the moment. On the subject of 5 peg sections I don’t think they work but that’s a matter of opinion.
-
09/03/2010 at 12:36 pm #97711
Rod TubeThat cant be correct red angler! can it? If that is the case you could have an angler fom the same team next to each other!!!
-
09/03/2010 at 12:50 pm #97714
TF_red_anglerRod tube, hopefully Ken will will explain the system they use, i understand where your coming from but i think they moved away from each team having say all peg 1 in each section to reduce the number of ends pegs a team could have.
Margin Gnome, iv got a fisho ticket for Boldings so will pick your brains nearer the time, i must improve on last yr!!!!!!!!~sick
-
09/03/2010 at 1:25 pm #97717
Rod TubeHaving an end peg on heronbrook aint no advantage. Anyhow peg 1 will only be end peg on 4 lakes and you might possibly win your section off only one of those coz there not that good.

TF_kwadejGood Morning,
Got a small problem at Heronbook this Saturday.
I could do with four anglers, competent at weighing in to give us a hand.
If you could help out I would be most grateful, drop me a line on [email protected] to discuss.
Cheers

10/03/2010 at 12:01 pm #97835
TF_kwadejI see,you have your funny head on today~clap
Thankfully that one looks like being a cracker, I even had one of the teams telling me they want it to stay cold, they think it will fish better(if thats possible)and here is me praying for a warmer spell!
I was up there a couple of weeks ago and one angler was fed up because he only had 5lb, but the match had only been going for a couple of hours!! He finished with a big 8lb and close to bottom in a section of 10.Cheers

TF_joffmiesterjust a quick one ken on the semi finals so far have you had FULL teams turning out or have you had a few spare pegs ~think
-
10/03/2010 at 12:40 pm #97849
TF_kwadejHi Joff, yes I like to keep an eye on those very FEW anglers that berate Ken on this site. They don’t realise all that he does behind the scenes to be honest and it makes me cross when they start sprouting off. Unfortunately I can’t be calm like Ken he lets it wash right over his head, my temper goes from 0 to 100 extremely quickly. If only some of those with loads to say would take on some of the responsibility and start running matches etc then team fishing might well come back to the fore!
Sorry you are not in the Semis this year, we have missed you! -
10/03/2010 at 12:45 pm #97850
TF_kwadejOne team pulled out a week before the K&A. Very disapointing.
But full houses for all the others.

TF_joffmiester~think ~think whats happening ken another team short one team pulling out monks lake team members short ~think ~think ~think
winter leagues on commercials and winter leagues on natural venues aren’t going together what i mean by that its the semi’s don’t seam to be workingi t might want a rethink next year ~think ~think ~think
spro team on monks fished a man short know nothing about commercials traveled 300miles with a man short ~sick basically NO CHANCE of qualifing yet are very good on natural venues
K&A team pulls out ~think was it a commercial team i wonder
and now poor billy are going to fish two men short with NO CHANCE of qualifing and it sounds like his team are commercial anglers what arethey going to do with B/J
i just think its becoming very split the winter league
just a thought it might want looking at -
11/03/2010 at 11:32 am #98043
TF_kwadejHi Joff,
It may well need looking at, but not on here, write to us with your views and idea’s, but remember to think about ALL the teams not just your own.
I have to say that you have got some stuff wrong Joff. Give me a call some time and I will tell you the real facts not what you have heard or seen on a web site forum.
We changed it last year and got alot of stick, I might add particually from your semi on the canal!!
Every team wants a venue close to home, that they fish regually be it a comi or canal.
If anyone has idea’s put it down on paper and send it to me.
Cheers

TF_joffmiesterken its was an observation really i done need to tell you how to run anything as i know first hand what its like to run competitions yours is and will always be a thankless job [and mrs wade]perhaps not the place on a website i agree but it was a observation nothing else and wondered or wanted other views on it hopefully from the anglers taking part its not about my team and your right its about every team BUT no one wants the responsibility of asking the questions
listen i’m always been right behind yu on most issue’s and we have always worked them out
this really is only a observation
bye the way you can have good debaits on websites as long its kept between the lines some good ideas come from the website more and more anglers are using websites for imformation -
11/03/2010 at 11:49 pm #98161
TF_lloydy1970Don’t matter what’s done you’ll never please everybody. When the winter leagues start we know the rules that team that win a league have first choice and so on, if the teams turning up on Stainy short because they don’t fish bj were on the commie and won, what would they do on the final?
The weather has affected a couple of venues this year but that couldn’t have been antisapated when they were chosen.
-
12/03/2010 at 9:31 am #98182
TF_lloydy1970Shrewsbury had 1 of the best canal anglers i’ve fished with in their team this year but he aint prepared to travel to the Stainy even for the 1 match.
