I must admit I think this is great news for the angler on a budget, due to a price rise cemex gave up the old stretch of river lea and the flood releif channel, this wasn’t cheap for anglers with families to fish under cemex as the yearly season tickets can be a bit pricey, however for a few measly quid you can now join any one of the local clubs and fish for prime chub and barbel in the old lea and flood releif channel, I must admit I couldn’t resist joining but it’s even cheaper for OAP’s one club offering yearly membership at just £7, althgough the initial year will cost £15 as there is a small joining fee.In addition to this is the fishing on the cornmill stream and four pits containing carp to near 40 big pike bream and tench.
Needless to say I have joined and have already been veiwing some of the known pegs which have produced those 8lb winter leviathon chub (best 8 lb 14oz last year),having had them out on the navigation to 7lb 2oz I can’t wait to have another crack on a different section of the river,
roll on the winter I can sense a new personal best chub.
