Ravensthorpe Reservoir
Opening weekend
Ravensthorpe Reservoir is the first of Anglian Water’s ‘big four’ waters to open for fishing. Opening day last Saturday, 3 March, saw 42 bank and boat anglers shrugging off the strong winds and rain showers with most anglers catching fish.
Terry Vials landed the biggest fish of the weekend from Catwalk Corner – a superb 11lb 7oz Rainbow. Terry, from Clipston, Market Harborough, was continuing the tradition of big opening day fish. Last year on opening day Mick Griffin took a whopping 12lb 6oz Rainbow. Mick was again amongst the fish this year – he and his boat partner Graham Smith took 15 fish to their boat.
Whilst water levels remain low at Ravensthorpe bank anglers are restricted to fishing from the dam, despite this most caught well.
