Organisation and what to carry

As a pleasure/club angler i fish both commercials and local more silver based club waters.

At the moment i carry a mix and match of rigs (only 7) made up of floats i just bought randomly without a purpose in mind and just made up for the sake of using it.

But now i want to have a clear out of all my floats, hooks, line and years old shot and look to creating a set of proper rigs that will improve my fishing.

Basically i want to be able to say…I use this for this and that for that. Rather than just picking a float, and hooklength out of a hat and hoping for the best.

I have pretty much decided i want to keep using antares silk shock, but down know what sizes, and also to keep using b911 hooks for pellets on commercials.

The rest, i wait for your advice

I use to have hundreds of different patterns of float. The same with hooks and line. I would just make rigs up based on what looked right for the job but never put much thought in to what i was using. I think i was caught by the different types of floats like many anglers. Instead of keeping things simple and picking the best type of float for the job and understanding the way each of my float patterns work. Then about 10 years ago. I made a big change to my tackle. I picked just 6 different float patterns that would cover all my commercial fishing in almost all conditions and situation. I also picked a few patterns of hooks that where based on hook baits and the size of fish that i would be targeting on the venues that i fish. My results improving massively once i had made these changes to my tackle. I dont have to sift though hundreds of different floats/rigs, packets of hooks or the different types and diameters of line to find something that i believe is right for the venue, type of fish and conditions. I know what i need to use within seconds of getting to my peg. I understand my rigs and what to expect from my set ups. Making my tackle choices simple was the best thing i could have done and my results improved very quickly because of this change.
