O/T dead laptop help.

One of my old laptops has suddenly died. There is power going to the adapter, but the laptop itself is lifeless. Any ideas?

are there any lighhts on at all on the laptop? If there is try it without the battery in and just on mains power, failing batteries can cause this.

Just because there is power going to the adapter doesn’t mean that there is power going to the laptop. Do you have another laptop that takes the same type of adpater to try it on? Or visa versa

If all that fails then it’s likely that the sytem board has gone

Take out the battery and clean the connections on it and the laptop, even if you only use it on mains power. I have seen this cause this problem a few times especially on Acer laptops

I have had a play with no success. I think its the mother board and I cant be bothered with a repair. I’ll try and transfer the info from the hard drive. Thanks anyway.
