FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 31/5/09

Last week 159 rods caught 329 fish for an average of 2.05.

The bright conditions at the end of the week made sport more difficult, although fish were moving throughout the day with pond olives and buzzers hatching.

The best fish of the week was a 6lb rainbow caught by Sean Lacey of Nuneaton who was fishing a small sunken Daddy Long Legs from a boat at Great Pool.
Mr A Moulder of Solihull took four fish to 4½lb, again on CDC Emergers but this time it was from the bank of Cocks Close. Peter Blake of Meriden caught one and released a further six fish to 4lb using small black Buzzers whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close. Mr Speed of Sutton Coldfield also fished from a boat on Cocks Close and took two and released a further six fish, this time using a Damsel fished on an intermediate line.

The conditions are making it harder but there are still plenty of fish to be had including lots of fish in the 4 – 5lb bracket.

Smaller imitative patterns are working best with the fish less willing to chase Lures. Black Buzzer, Bloodworm, Damsel, CDC Emergers, pearly olive dry flies,
PT Nymphs, GRHE and Hoppers have all accounted for a few fish this week.

The fish are pretty well spread out on all of the pools, but look for deeper water as it warms and especially during the brighter parts of the day.
