MOLANDS Fished a lot better this week with the F1’s starting to have a real go. Shallow tactics have been the best with pellet waggler and shallow pole and pellet all accounting for good nets of F1’s this week. The carp are also going well and fish to 15lb are coming to the pellet feeder or corn paste down the edge. Match weights to over 100lb recorded this week and pleasure catches exceeding this. Top pegs are 2, 8, 13, 15, 23 – 29, 33, 41 – 46 and 52 – 60.
GEARYS Some terrific catches caught this week topped by Susie Smith’s 169lb 15oz which won the Tuesday evening match. This is the best weight recorded in any match on Gearys and it was only a four hour match. Susie caught on pole and paste down the edge on peg 12. 100lb+ catches won most matches this week with pellet feeder or method feeder with corn or pellet on the hook and edge fishing with paste, corn or meat the top tactics. Best pegs are 6, 9, 12, 18 – 21, 27 and 36.
LITTLE GEARYS This pool is still in terrific form with good nets of fish being caught from all areas of the pool. Match weights to over 80lb coming out and pleasure anglers have caught much more fishing into the evenings. Pellet feeder to the island, shallow pole and pellet and margin fishing with corn or meat are the top tactics. Best pegs 3, 5,
7 – 15, 19 and 25 – 27.GRATUITIES Improved over the past week with some good nets of carp in the 2 – 3lb bracket coming out with pellet waggler or pellet feeder fished to the island accounting for the better catches. Lots of crucians in the ½lb – 1lb bracket coming out to pellet, corn and caster float fished down the first shelf. Best pegs are 1 – 4, 8, 9 and 15.
WILLOW Still in good form with carp to 13lb, F1’s to 3lb, tench to 4lb and plenty of skimmers and crucians showing. The best approach is to fish a waggler or feeder to the island during the day and in the evening, come down the margins. Best pegs are 1, 3, 5, 6 and 10.
SIBLINGS A Siblings A is in really good form with carp in the 1 – 4lb bracket providing the best of the action along with tench and skimmers. The best approach is feeding hard pellet and fishing a small expander on the hook at 3 – 5 metres or tight up to the island.
CRESCENT/REEDY BAY &FIRST BAY These small pools are giving excellent fishing at the moment with carp to double figures, F1’s, smaller carp and lots of silvers. Float fished corn or meat is the best for the larger fish with maggot or expander pellet producing lots of bites from smaller fish.
