PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERYREPORT
MOLANDS The fishing was a little patchy on Molands with changeable weather conditions from frost to torrential rain. Carp to 17lb, F1’s to 4lb and bream to 5lb featured in catches with the pellet feeder fished tight to the island or long pole tactics working best. Top pegs have been 2, 8 – 12, 15, 27 – 29, 42 – 48 and 58 – 60.
GEARYS A few carp showing at the top end of the pool and around the middle stumps with bomb and bread/boilies accounting for fish to double figures. Skimmers and roach are making up the better catches with the high bank and pegs 31 – 36 producing catches to over 20lb on caster or expander pellet.
LITTLE GEARYS Winning weights were up a little from previous weeks with 40lb+ needed to win on Little Gearys. Fish are being caught all around the pool but pegs 7 – 13 and 25 – 29 are best at the moment. Small method/pellet feeder fished across to the island is the top tactic.
WILLOW Pellet/Open end feeder fished to the island is the best tactic on Willow and is catching carp from 1 – 4lb and F1’s up to 2lb with pellet or dead red maggot on the hook.
GRATUITIES Only a small amount of pleasure anglers fished Gratuities last week with reports of plenty of silver fish, skimmers, roach and decent sized perch coming to the pole and maggot/caster.
ANNIVERSARIES Maggot or caster fished on the pole in the open water is working well for mixed catches of skimmers, roach, perch with the odd tench and crucians. The bay at the top end of the pool from pegs 1 – 6 is the best area.
