PACKINGTON TROUT FISHERY
FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 26/7/09
Last week 84 rods caught 106 fish for an average of 1.26 per rod.
The Day Ticket water Cocks Close is now closed for a summer break until the middle of September. It is ironic that the weather is cool and the pool was fishing reasonably well over the last week with the boat anglers particularly scoring well.
Ray Cramp of Coventry fished from a boat on Cocks Close and he took his five fish limit using Damsel Nymphs and small olive Nymphs fished on a floating line. Mick Strain of Birmingham and Mr A Ingram of Cradley shared a boat and both took five fish limits with sunken Daddy Long Legs and Bloodworm patterns working for them.
On the members’ waters, which are remaining open through the summer, both Great Pool and Park Meadow have been in decent form with lots of fish moving and coming to small Hoppers, Buzzers or flies such as Grenadier, red Tag or pearly Wickhams. The best fish of the week was a 4lb 8oz rainbow taken from Great Pool by Sean Lacey of Nuneaton who caught five fish on Buzzers. Stephen Roberts of Birmingham caught five fish on black Buzzers fished on a floating line.
