Packington Somers Trout Fishing Form to June 15th

Last week 125 rods caught 230 fish for an average of 1.84 per rod.

The day ticket water Cocks Close has fished better one day and been harder the next with again the anglers fishing from boats doing better than those on the bank.

The best fish last week was an estimated 12lb 8oz rainbow caught from a boat on Cocks Close by Andy Boswell of Birmingham and the successful fly was a Diawl Bach. The fish was safely returned to the water. Mr Ponting of Sutton Coldfield, again fishing from a boat caught and released 11 fish from Cocks Close on Hoppers and Klinkhammers with one estimated at 4lb. There were many fish caught in the 3 – 4lb range from all of the pools with two others at 5lb from Cocks Close. The Great Pool has been the most successful members’ pool with John Kingslake of Tamworth taking five fish and releasing four others on Ace of Spades.

Dries such as Hoppers, Cul de Canard, Pheasant Tails and Hawthorns have accounted for a lot of fish, but also be prepared to change when Damsel Nymphs, Buzzers and Pheasant Tail Nymphs are more successful.

The best area on Cocks Close has been the high bank and the wires bank

We are offering a late evening ticket (from 6pm to close) which is two fish plus catch and release for £10.00.
