It was the best week of the year so far on the Trout Fishery and all the pools are providing superb sport at the moment. There are lots of fish being caught in the 3 – 5lb bracket with the largest fish of the week, a 5lb 4oz rainbow caught by Ray Inman of Birmingham who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and this fell to a small Buzzer fished on a floating line and also accounted for five other fish from 2 – 3½lb. Craig Smith fished from the bank of Cocks Close and caught and released 12 fish to 4½lb which fell to a mixture of small Buzzers and white Lures.
The Trout Masters Fish Off was held on Saturday and the winner who will represent Packington in the final was Ray Cramp of Coventry who won and his five fish bag weighed in at 17lb 5oz.
On the members’ waters, Great Pool in particular has been fishing very well with lots of fish moving on the surface taking Buzzers. Nick Howarth of Nuneaton caught seven fish to 5lb on Buzzers fished on a floating line. On the Hall Pool, Peter Wrigley of Nuneaton enjoyed a good day catching seven fish to 4lb 4oz with Buzzers again accounting for all of his fish.
