PACKINGTON TROUT FISHERY
FISHERY REPORT – WEEK ENDING 6/12/09
Last week 84 rods caught 227 fish for an average of 2.70
The wet and windy weather continued this week and sport was affected but most anglers enjoyed some success.
The best rainbow of the week was 11lb5oz and was caught by Atherstone angler Matthew Bird who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close.He also caught one at 8lbs 4oz and they both fell to a bloodworm pattern fished on a sight bob.G W Cooper of Sutton coldfield had an 8lb rainbow on a black lure from the park meadow pool.
Top flies are cats whisker,bloodworm, black tadpole,damsel nymph,minkies,black or olive buzzer and Montana.
The high bank and old boat jetty area remains the hotspot on Cocks Close On the members’ waters, Great Pool has improved over the past week and the best sport is to be found on the shallow water to the left of the boat jetty.
The fishery will be closed on Christmas day,boxing day and new years day.

FISHERY REPORT – WEEK ENDING 22/11/09
Last week 74 rods caught 290 fish for an average of 3.92.
It was another cracking week despite the very wet and windy conditions. There were a lot of big fish caught with no less than six doubles this week.
Mark Sturgess of Nuneaton had fish of 12lb 13oz and 11lb 5oz in a five fish limit with both caught on the bank of Cocks Close with a Bloodworm pattern being Mark’s successful fly. Roy Stroud also had two fish over 10lb whilst fishing from the bank of Cocks Close and these both fell to a ‘Pinkied’ Lure and were safely caught and released. Tony Jowle of Halesowen returned a fish estimated at 12lb and Clive Wilkinson of Birmingham had a lovely 10lb 14lb rainbow on a white Lure.
On the Members’ waters, Park Meadow, Colin England of Kenilworth caught five fish including one at 8lb and this came to a Buzzer pattern.
The high bank and old boat jetty area remains the hotspots on Cocks Close although fish are being caught all around the pool.
Best patterns are Cats Whiskers, Bloodworm, black Lures, Fritz Lures, Diawl Bach, P T Nymph and black Buzzers.
