FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 5/5/13

Last week 132 rods caught 476 fish for an average of 3.61.

A bit of a mixed week with a combination of weather saw the fishing great one day and harder the next.

There were some cracking fish caught and the best fish of the week was a 14lb rainbow caught by Peter Blake of Meriden who was fishing from the bank of Cocks Close and he took it on a black Nugget Lure fished on an intermediate line. Mr R Barton of Nuneaton caught and returned a fish of 10lb whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and this one fell to a Diawl Bach on a floating line. Arthur Topp of Stretton also caught a 10lb rainbow, again from a boat on Cocks Close and this one fell to a black and green Lure fished on a floating line.

On the members’ water Hall Pool, Mick Hanson and Peter Wrigley of Nuneaton shared a boat with both catching six fish each and Mick’s best fish was a 9lb rainbow and Peter’s, an 8lb 8oz rainbow, both used black Buzzers on a floating line. Dave Robinson of Solihull fished Park Meadow from a boat and caught six fish to 4½lb on a Gold Head Damsel.

Top flies are Damsel Nymph, GRHE, Diawl Bach, black or olive Buzzers, CDC Emergers, pearly P T Nymph, Bloodworm and P T Nymph.

There have been lots of fish moving on the surface with the late evening rises superb at the moment.

The Fishery is hosting a ‘Fishing for Heroes’ event on the 1st June. Anglers wishing to support this cause will be asked to find sponsorship to the value of £70.00 and the winner of the day will be invited to fish a grand final at Dever Springs later in the year.

The fishery opens at 8am and closes at dusk (9pm at the moment).
