Last week 8 rods caught 54 fish for an average of 6.75.
The ice disappeared for a short spell last week allowing a few hardy souls to fish on Cocks Close. Everybody that fished caught well with white or black Lures fished on intermediate or sinking lines the best tactic.
Ray Inman of Birmingham fished from a boat and caught seven fish to 7lb 2oz on a Woolly Bugger Lure. Matthew Bird of Atherstone also took a boat out and caught
23 fish on a catch and release ticket with the biggest estimated at around the 6lb mark. These fell to a Bloodworm pattern or black Buzzer fished under an indicator.
The frost at the weekend saw all the pools freeze over again and we would advise anybody to telephone us before travelling to the fishery. The staff would like to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Packington Somers Trout Fishing to November 30th, 2010
Last week 52 rods caught 152 fish for an average of 2.92.
The best fish of the week was a 13lb 8oz rainbow caught by Mr Green of Nuneaton who was fishing from the bank of Cocks Close and was the best of a five fish limit. Ray Askill of Bedworth has an 8lb fish, again from the bank of Cocks Close and this was taken on a Pheasant Tail Nymph fished on a floating line. Matthew Bird of Atherstone had a 7lb 12oz rainbow which was the best of an 11 fish catch taken from a boat on Cocks Close and these all came to small Nymphs fished on a floating line. Richard Lindsey fished the members’ water Park Meadow from a boat and caught four fish to 6lb and these all fell to a Gold Head black Fritz Lure fished on an intermediate line. Tony Plummer and Colin England of Kenilworth shared a boat on Great Pool and caught 11 fish between them on small GRHE on floating lines.
The pools remained clear of ice until Sunday when all of them froze over. The cold weather put a lot of anglers off but the fishing through the week was excellent particularly on Cocks Close where the high bank and old boat jetty corner were the hotspots.
Best flies were Damsel Nymph, black Tadpole, Cats Whisker, GRHE, Bloodworm and Fritz Lures.
With the current icy conditions we recommend telephoning the fishery before coming, to ensure the pools are open.

Last week 77 rods caught 168 fish for an average of 2.18.
There were a couple of days last week when the fish were moving all over Cocks Close giving a spring like appearance to the lake. The fish were moving to small black Midges and a few fish were being caught to dries such as Hoppers and CDC Emergers. The best tactic has been to fish Lures on intermediate lines with Cats Whisker, white or black Fritz, black Tadpole, Minkies and Dog Nobblers.
The best fish of the week was an 8lb 8oz rainbow caught by John Clarke of Solihull and this was taken on a Booby on a sinking line from a boat on Cocks Close. Derek Brookes of Nuneaton had an 8lb 5oz rainbow from the bank of Cocks Close and this came to a Bloodworm pattern. Ray Inman of Birmingham had a 7lb 8oz rainbow on a Woolly Bugger whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close.
On the Great Pool, Andrew Moulder caught four fish including a 6lb rainbow and these all came to a Cats Whisker Lure fished on a floating line. Gary Cooper of Sutton Coldfield had a five fish catch from a boat on Park Meadow and these all fell to black Lures.
