FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 14/12/14

Last week 36 rods caught 123 fish for an average of 3.42 fish per rod.

It was a very quiet week on the trout fishery with a combination of cold days and strong winds putting the anglers off. For those that did fish there were some good sport on offer with both boat and bank anglers scoring well.

The largest fish of the week was a 10lb 8oz rainbow caught by 81 year old Harold Lewis of Knowle who caught this and five other fish on a Bloodworm pattern fished on a floating line, whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close. Ray Cramp of Coventry fished the bank of Cocks Close and caught a total of nine fish to over 5lb which fell to Lures fished on an intermediate line. Dave Bratby of Birmingham also fished the bank of Cocks Close and caught and returned 11 fish to 4lb using a special own tied Damsel Nymph with an orange hothead.

On the members’ water Great Pool, Richard Lindsey of Stafford caught six fish to over 5lb using black and white Zonkers on a sinking line.

The best areas have been the old boat jetty corner and high bank on Cocks Close and the shallow water down to the middle island on Great Pool.

Top flies are Cats Whiskers, black Tadpoles, Zonkers, Minkies, Damsels, Bloodworms, Diawl Bach and black Buzzers.

THE FISHERY WILL BE CLOSED ON CHRISTMAS DAY, BOXING DAY AND NEW YEARS DAY. WE WOULD LIKE TO WISH ALL OUR CUSTOMERS A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
