FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 31/1/16
Last week 52 rods caught 189 fish for an average of 3.6.
It was another good week at the fishery with plenty of fish coming out including a lot of fish in the 4 – 8lb range.
The biggest rainbow of the week was 8lb 12oz caught by Mr J Wadrup of Birmingham who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and it was the best of an eight fish catch taken on black Damsel Nymphs fished on a floating line. Mr Staff of Leicester fished a Girdle Bug and caught eight fish to 7lb 14oz from a boat on Cocks Close. Jonathan Preston and his son Jack of Solihull fished from a boat on Cocks Close had eight fish to 7lb 12oz between them and they all came to Damsel Nymphs. Mark Goldney of Nuneaton fished the bank of Cocks Close and caught eight fish to 4lb which fell to a variety of Lures including a Cats Whisker on a floating line.
The road bank and the old boat jetty corner have been the hotspots on Cocks Close with most anglers fishing from boats.
The best tactics have been to fish flies such as black Tadpoles, Goldhead Damsels and Cats Whiskers using floating lines and long leaders.
