FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 2/11/14
Last week 84 rods caught 224 fish for an average of 2.67 fish per rod.
The boat anglers on Cocks Close continue to enjoy the best of the action with the fish showing from the middle trees down to the high bank.
Alex Kerr of Nuneaton caught five fish and returned a further six fish up to 4lb 2oz using a Damsel Nymph fished on a floating line whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close. Kevin Brookes of Tamworth also fishing from a boat on Cocks Close caught seven fish to 5lb 12oz which again fell to Damsel Nymphs but fished a sinking line. On the bank, fishery regular Dave Bratby of Birmingham, caught and returned eight fish to 5lb using an own tied Damsel pattern fished on a floating line.
The biggest fish last week was a 6lb rainbow caught by Dave McSheffrey of Birmingham who caught it on a black lure from the bank of Cocks Close.
On the members’ water Great Pool, Peter Wrigley of Nuneaton caught seven fish to 3lb using a combination of white Lures and Buzzers on a floating line.
The milder weather has seen more fish moving and the fish are a little easier to target. Small Nymphs such as GRHE, P T Nymph and Diawl Bach are catching the moving fish but this week the top pattern has to be the Damsel Nymph which fished on a long leader or a floating line has accounted for a lot of the fish caught.
Fish to 15lb have been stocked last week along with plenty in the 4 – 6lb range.
