FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 4/11/12
Last week 100 rods caught 247 fish for an average of 2.47.
The colder weather over the past week has seen the fished spread out around the pool on Cocks Close. The hotspots have been the high bank and wires bank but fish are being caught on all areas. Lures are starting to come into their own with Cats Whisker, Minkies, big Goldhead Damsels and black Tadpoles all catching.
The best fish of the week was a 7lb 1oz rainbow caught by Steve Gowan of Knowle who caught it on a Damsel Nymph on a floating line whilst fishing from the bank of Cocks Close.
The Packington Fly Fishers held their annual Jubilee Cup, fishing from the boats on Cocks Close and the winner was Jack Dixon of Warwick who caught a five fish limit for 16lb 7oz including one at 6lb 2oz and these all came to black Buzzers on a floating line.
On the members’ waters, Park Meadow has been impressive. Michael Lloyd of Coventry caught six fish to 3lb on small Lures. On the Hall Pool, Mick Hanson and Peter Wrigley of Nuneaton shared a boat and both caught seven fish to 4lb using Buzzers on a floating line.
During the winter the fishery opens at 8am and closes at 5pm or dusk.
