On the Great Pool, Kevin Brookes of Tamworth had a 6lb rainbow in a ten fish catch which all fell to Cats Whisker fished on an intermediate line. Ray Inman of Birmingham caught a 6lbr in a seven fish catch whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and these all came to a black Tadpole fished on a floating line. Sean Lacey of Nuneaton caught a 5lb 8oz rainbow in a five fish catch whilst fishing from a boat on the Park Meadow pool and these all fell to a small black Buzzer on a floating line.
The best areas have been the sand bank and wires bank on Cocks Close, the dam wall and middle island on the Great Pool and the dam wall at Park Meadow.
Best patterns are Cats Whisker, black Tadpole, olive or red Emergers, black Buzzer, Damsel Nymph and dry Tups Indispensable.
The *fly fishing tuition day in conjunction with Shakespeare Fishing Tackle was held on Saturday with 16 attending on the Hall Stew. Everybody had a great time despite the trout not wanting to play ball. We will be holding another day soon and will advertise when a date is set.
