AnonymousDoes anybody know if Partridge fishery is open this weekend. Im getting different reports. I have been told that the fishery is closed this weekend. This seems strange as we fished it a few weeks ago after breaking the ice. I have also been told that a JCB has been used to break ice on some of the lakes during the last few days.

trickyI spoke to Phil today and he gave me NO reason to think that there could be matches on this weekend, but he said there could be a possability for next week. He reckons that the ice is still 4 inch in places and they have been useing the digger but only to get some air for the fish, but he did state that the hole are no longer iceing over.
So fingers crossed we could be in buisiness next week.
AT LEAST I’VE GOT ALL MY DECORATING DONE!! Ha Ha -

AnonymousThanks for the up date, tricky. Hoping i can get back to the winter league i was fishing on there. Do you think we will be able to fish this Sunday? Not to sure how its going to fish after all this ice water has gone in to the lakes and no food to keep the fish interested in feeding.

trickyIf you read the “experts” in the angling press they think that the fish will be looking for food!!!!
Weather forecast not too good for later in the week so dont get hopes up too much for weekend. -

trickyThursdays are 9am draw £11 for match, or £16 including extra £5 pool.
We will probably be on Spey again and if too many for one canal we will split between Spey and Marsh.

Only fished Partridge once many years ago and coming to fish an open there a week on Saturday.
Where’s best to fish, what methods and baits etc?
Mikey

23/01/2010 at 12:04 am #90592
trickyYep they stocked all the waters on the old complex with new stockies in December, I think they put about 1500 in each pool.
I was told on Thursday that there were more fish going in on Friday, what and where they went I do not know.
Spoke to phil and he says all waters on Covey are now clear.
If anyone goes Saturday will you let me know how it fishes, am thinking of going Sunday.

AnonymousMikey, as your fishing an open on Saturday. You will have to fish the peg you draw on any of 4 pools called Covey 1-4. You will be fishing for small F1s averaging 4oz-12oz and the odd carp from 8 oz – 2lb. There are very few silvers in these pools. Fish are caught in the deep water at 3-4 meters, at 7-8 meters on the shelf and tight across to the fare bank at 12 meters. Main baits are red maggot, 4ml expander pellets and corn. Paste was working before it went very cold and did produce some fish right though last winter. No idea if paste will still work now as i have not been on the match pools for about 5 weeks. Ground bait always works as feed but be very careful about how you feed it.
Hope this helps.

TF_Johnny MacAnyone know how it fished today??
-
25/01/2010 at 1:18 pm #90919
TF_TubestationI won my section off peg 44 with 14lb 8 oz which I think was 5th overall ….. 40lb won it. Not sure of the peg but it was off covey 3 … 26lb was 2nd off peg 26 and 18lb was 3rd not sure of peg number. With a 15 lb weight 4th . I really enjoyed it tbh…. some peeps are saying its peggy, but from anywhere you have got your chance to win your section. And everywhere is peggy in winter. Like the one on thursday on spey odds on the winner will come from the low numbers, so the draw will be important.

TF_DaveDHow’s Covey fishing at the moment, i’ve had a few months away from the matches on Partridge but after fishing the match on Spey yesterday, I’ve got the bug again!!!
I drew peg 13 and Richard (Tricky on here) drew peg 14 and the bonus peg!!
Richard had a fish before I’d even gone in and continued with one a chuck until they all did a disappaearing act at about 11:30am and he then struggled for the odd fish until the end.
I was also getting a fish a chuck and was catching 2 fish to Richards one. This carried on for me unitl 1:30pm and then my fish did a Houdini. Lee Addy 2 pegs to my left had a couple of lumps and Mark Addy to my right was also catching so they had me a bit worried.
I went 13m to my right and picked off the odd fish and also lost a common at least 5lb at the net.
I weighed in 32lb 6oz to win the match which I was over the moon with as i’d not done a proper match for ages.
I was a bit gutted that the bonus peg was right next door but you can’t have everything!!
Just decidng whether or not to fish Covey tomorrow now.

TF_DaveDHow’s it fishing mate. I fished it all last winter and I also enjoyed it but it was really peggy…you could be sat next to someone geting a fish a chuck and you wouldn’t even get a bite. How many are turning up on the Saturday opens??

Partridge for me as well…as Johnny Mac says, stuffed with F1’s and plenty of bites.I fished it all winter last year, breaking 2-3″ of ice and still caught. You do get off days but that’s the same as anywhere else in the country
Slippy…150lb was conservative…you almost had that when you sat on my peg after the match!!
I’m on the open tomorrow mate and will be on the Saturday open as well…not fished it for about 6 weeks now and can’t wait to kick your ass again.
I’ll post on Friday to let all of you know how it fished and how badly Slippy did
you must have drawn well i fished last winter nearly every week and a lot of areas you didnt get a bite and that was with about 10- 15 anglers not 40 – 50

“Boss Bait”
Please elaborate…I don’t undertsand your grammar…when it makes sense, I’ll respond!!
With regards to matches….Tuesday will depend on how badly frozen it is… Spey was “free” on Saturday but it will have frozen again on Saturday night and last night….best to ring Phil.
Saturday was on Spey, 31lb won it and the majority of others had double figures…not sure about where it came from as I didn’t fish it myself.
