TF_baitchefParticipantI trashed my last preston Durafloat 5 last night by standing on it. I have used these since they came out and they never let me down. Anyways up, What should I replace them with, bearing in mind I like a long 5-6cm bristle. Any ideas?

TF_SliderI would look at floats by Hillbilly and Jon Walker
Various patterns they do are good for paste and you wont break them when you stand on them.

TF_baitchefParticipantHow do you get hold of the Jon Walker floats without fishing Rolfs? Also do you know of any other patterns apart fron Nicks without eyes?

Also I have some other long tipped and driftbeater paste floats in the pipeline with a teardrop shaped body.

TF_baitchefParticipantI like the look of the paste floats nick. I think I will order some later as i like to use 2 rubbers on the tip, one at the base and one at the very tip, then 3 on the stem. I like the sound of the teardrop shape as well. I’m fishing my local league at the moment (came second last night) and it looks like its going to be a paste job most weeks. There are one or two deeper pegs where the wind cuts across and something stable should be ideal.

Bristles half a metre long- how long is the whole float? You must need a top4 to swing the rig to hand LOL

TF_HillbillyBeen experimenting with extra long tipped (60 – 80mm) paste floats with two eyes on the tip and they do not work as well as you would expect unless you undershot the float considerably. This is because there is not enough bouyancy in the tips alone to break the surface tension on the line by the top eye and so the tip only lifts to this position when the paste comes off. If you take more weights off to make the float lift fully the extra bouyancy working on the hook pulls it out of the paste. ~think
