tommybelieve it or not i use a drennan series 7 13ft feeder heavy feeder rod. They are mege strong and will handle the carp at Boddington. I used mine ate earlswood yesterday and had one carp at least 15 lbs, handled it a lot better than these poxy little pellet waggler rods that are on sale. The drennan is a really god price as well. If u dont want to be embarrassed when using a feeder rod, just paint out the tipp in blak..lol. Oh by the way I have had at least 5 tons on it and 2 double tons…

Nick DAnother vote for Drennan.
I use the Series 7 (11ft 6in – 13ft) Waggler Combo and i find it spot on for the pellet wag.

TF_Mike HerringtonI have just got a Shakespeare Mach 3 XT micro 11ft pellet waggler rod and used it at Viaduct for first time on Fri…fooking cock on. was chucking 30m + with 6g Garbo loaded .20 Direct Mono with .17 preston powerline hooklength and had 16 on it for about 140lb (biggest was 17lb 5oz). I put the reel on anti-reverse and just pumped and cranked and never sweated all day.
£89.99 in shops (less any discounts), i got mine off Ebay for £45 + postage.

Never fished Boddington but from what I have seen and heard about the place you would want a stiffer, maybe longer rod there than you would at Woodlands. The Shakespeare Mach 3 11ft is perfect for Woodlands but I’d rather use a 12ft, slightly more powerfull rod at Boddingtons like the Daiwa Spectron maybe? Or the Shakespeare 12ft might be worth a look. Or get what I use, secondhand Normark Avenger originals off Ebay!

TF_GaryI have seen the Shakespeare Mach 3 XT Micro Pellet 11ft waggler rods for £76.99 online. Is there anyone doing them any cheaper than this or offering a discount for a pair? I quite fancy a pair of these and a pair of new 11′ or 12′ method feeder rods for this summer now that I am going to White Acres AND Stafford Moor! ~clap ~clap ~clap ~clap

Yes, the new XT ones are and there was an original 12ft 6 model.

TF_dave brittainGary.
I’ve got two of the original Mach 3’s and they’re fine for Stafford Moor as I’ve won a lot of matches with them with weights up to 293lbs.
I’ve fished at long range with the rod against the island on the wide pegs on Woodpecker with 4 and 5SSG floats and an extra foot wouldn’t go amiss because it’s a long chuck however the rod coped well.
I’m sure it would be fine at boddingtons unless you’re fishing at extreme range, (if your catapulting 8mm coarse pellets the rod will do the job with a 4SSG float).
I’m happy using the rod for fish from 4 to 8lbs on average with the odd double thrown in however I’ll be getting a couple of the 12ft XT’s which are slightly more powerful and better for long range work when I get back to the UK in two weeks time.
If you are after a method rod or a pair of them look at the Shakespeare Mach 2 12ft Commercial feeder. Neil McKinnon uses one for all his method feeder fishing and swears by it.

TF_GaryThanks Dave. Would that be the 12′ light/medium or medium/heavy?

TF_dave brittainGary.
It’s the 12 ft Mach 2 XT Commercial Feeder which is a medium to heavy feeder rod designed specifically for commercials that you can pick up for £40. Neil advised me to get one when I get back.
