can the colour of the feed and hook pellets make a big difference, light or dark, fishmeal or halibut ???.

i think dark pellets are better,, fishmeal as halibutts are banned on most places

I doubt it makes much difference as the silouette against the sky of each will make both appear dark from below. I like to use a selection as the fish may have a different preference from one day to the next. In my experience, the lighter the pellet the less oil and the quicker they breakdown.

edit… They can also fall at different rates which helps disguise the effect of the weight of the hook, another reason whi i use a combination of light & dark.

I would opt for using lighter coloured pellets (coarse carp pellets) as they have a slower fall rate, therefore maximizing the time your bait is in the “killing zone” i.e as it falls through the water and looking at it’s most natural. Halibut pellets are heavier so on venues where they are allowed but are restricted to a size i.e. 8mm then it may be to your advantage to opt for them as you could reach a further distance if needed, as with most methods the fish seem to shy away at times.

im no expert on the pellet wag, but from when ive caught and wot ive seen,i dont think it matters wots on the hook if the there having it on the pellet wag they will take any pellet.
just hav a selection of different ones, try colouring them with a marker pen!

Try using a pellet pump for your hard 8mm pellets and once pumped, cover in VDE liquid pellet and watch how much slower the fall rate is?????

I will normally use the same pellets on the hook as the ones I’m feeding! As an alternative I use dynamite sinking expanders unsoaked.
