Picturesque Spots Outside of London

I live in the East end of London and would like to get out of the city and go fishing. Can anyone suggest somewhere scenic (perhaps in Essex/Kent, anywhere around London really) to go to, preferably with equipment for hire. I haven’t fished since I was a nipper

maybe equipment for hire is a new thing ,but i dont know anywhere in my area that does it, and by that i mean east anglia.
i dunno what sort of fishing u intend doing, but what ever it is good basic gear for a reasonable price is obtainable new and second hand if u search around, so are lakes and venues which may or not suit yourself.
i often find if im in the mind for a new venue there’s nothing better and gettin in the car and going off and finding it.

RankAmateur, if you want picturesque surroundings where you can hire tackle then Bury Hill near Dorking (nr M25 Jct9) would fit the bill perfectly. The fishing is outstanding as well, albeit ticket prices are a little bit steep. There’s a link to the fishery website on the right hand side of the page, and the site gives details of tackle hire arrangements.
