Forty anglers fished the boat match for the Fur and Feather on Sunday. Being the last big match of the year this is always popular and well attended.

In first place were season permit holders and Pitsford boat regulars Pat Flynn and Pete Webb who took an amazing 12 fish weighing 23lb which left them well ahead of any other pair. They fished in the narrows with their usual style of deep fished boobies. Nobody else could touch them. Second spot was father and son duo Ashley and Tom Davies who managed 6 fish weighing 11lb 6oz. Third place was taken by Mark Haycock and Ashley Gillies who caught five fish for 11lb 2oz. Rob Dobson and Mike Smith took fourth place with three fish for 9lb. We had two fish weighing exactly 3lb 4oz taken by Mark Haycock and Mike Smith, both took away a prize.

Christmas hampers were awarded to first, second and third placed boats and a case of beer going to fourth place. After the match anglers enjoyed hot dogs and liquid refreshment at the fishing lodge.

A few boats will remain on the water until Sunday 21 November. It is advisable for all boat anglers at Pitsford Water to book and pay in advance as the lodge will not be open until 9am. A prepaid boat enables anglers to fish from 8.30am. Boat anglers who have not prepaid will have to wait until the shop has opened.

Pitsford Water hosts the annual Fur and Feather on 14 November, with Christmas hampers valued at over £200 to be won. This is a four fish match fished from 9.00am to 4.00pm, followed by hot refreshments and a beer or soft/hot drink. Cost per person is £32.50 (£18.50 for season ticket holders) to cover 1/2 boat, 4 fish permit, food and a contribution to the prizes.
