TF_sharkI too really struggle with visibility of tips especially this time of year.
Never really found a solution but I tend to use a thicker bristle dotted down.
Be interested in the replies 🙂 -

TF_paulk66Yellow seems to be a good colour in variable conditions. Also, as mentioned, a thicker tip, dotted down. But then everyone is different. You could get some of the coloured pole float sleeves. Then you can change colours to suit. I have them and they do help. 🙂

TF_punchcrumbNot sure about the black and white striped tip  thick tips seem the way to go good job I can only hold the pole at 11 meters these days i woudnt see It at 16m even if I could hold the blinking thing 😀 .
Never actualy fished with a yella topped float always go for orange day glow but I do belive hollow tipped floats are all the rage nowadays are the new floats by Drennan any good? 😮 -

TF_Double Dipper manHi here’s something I’ve been playing about with for fishing in dark water, it’s a homemade pole float that houses a small starlight, black out 95 % of your starlight with a cellulose marker and you have a very good float for fishing across on canals under dark bushes etc or in any darker water, just an idea it doesn’t work when the sun’s in your mince pies though but I do think it has potential -Ant

TF_wightangleri tend to use black in white water or a piece of those drennan tip sleeves to thicken the end of the tip- if a thicker tip 1.5 or 1.75mm tip isn’t working.
Worst is heavy rain and a ripple as black then becomes impossible to see ok. -

Yep i did wonder how vertical stripes would be achieved so I sussed they were indeed horizontal 🙂

TF_fishman12345I use the tuff eye pole floats they come with interchangeable bristles black.yellow, orange so you can change tops as light changes

TF_wightanglerweirdly, partly because of tip interchangeability – but really for the solid plastic bristles(to show hold-ups, lifts and more noticeable indications with no.10/11 dropper shot. – have gone back to the old drennan quads (Benwicks still stock all the weight/size range) for skimmers and g/purpose silvers for 6/7′ and the tipo’s for 12′ plus and silvers.
I, nevertheless still use a different pattern though for’ heavy’ d/bulking and laying on for bigger skimmers.
