TF_In line feederOn the look out at the moment for a new pole and would be Interested in hearing from anybody who has recently bought the following poles,
Daiwa Whisker All terrain 16M
Daiwa New Connoisseur G20 16M
Garbolino New GMAX 700 COMP 16MQuestion 1
Are you happy with it now you have fished with it or are you disapointed and regret buying itQuestion 2
Have you bought any spares for it, and did you have to wait long for them to be deliveredI have yet to try these poles in the shop so your comments would be welcome.
Thanks in advance

TF_PoDdWAT is the better pole, followed by the G20. I woulg ignore the 700 and the Z7.
If you can afford either, look at the 774 or Z9, possibly the Gmax 800 (it feels good, but dont know if its brittle?). I’ve never had any issues with spares from Sensas or Daiwa. I cant speak about browning or garbo.

TF_Man of KentI don’t get this response. In Line Feeder is clearly working to a budget (and there’s nothing wrong with that), so why is it that the first thing people do is recommend poles way above the funds available? He’s identified three poles he’s interested in, so why tell him to ignore the G-Max 700 without giving a reason?
Come on guys, ILF is looking for some HELPFUL advice.

TF_unlucky19my mate got rid of his g max 700 after using it twice and a power kit snapping very easily. sold it and this lad has snapped two kits while playing fish. also said it felt unbalanced.

Clearly because the others are better! GMAX 700 is heavy, sloppy, unbalanced and not good for the money)
If he shops smartly, the 2 poles I mentioned can be obtained for a marginal amount more than the WAT, and are much better.
At SSP, the G20, GXR2001, TKS625 and Sensas 734 are the better poles, but all feel different and need to be tried. Ive owned a G20 and currently own a 734 (as a backup to a 774). 734 is heavy but well balanced, 625 is lighter but not as strong but good at 14.5, 2001 is lightest and good at 14.5, G20 is the best allrounder but not the best package and is the most expensive also good at 14.5.
– Where does it state a budget?
– Surely if he requires more help, he is capable of asking himself? How HELPFUL was your post!!!!!!!???????

TF_Man of KentNice one PoDd; that’s better and thanks. I’m sure ILM can actually use your second reply, and since it was only solicited by my request, I’d say my post was helpful.
If I had some useful advice to give I would have provided it, but had you considered that I might be making a similar decision to ILM?

TF_Mikey .J.DO NOT over look the Daiwa Whisker All Terrain. It really is a fantastic pole! My friend has one and i have a Tournament Pro X and the pro x is only just slightly better at 16m. Awesome piece of kit. Imo the best in its price range and ive been lucky enough to use more poles than most!

TF_PoDdMan of Kent wrote:Nice one PoDd]How do you know it was of no use, it only amounted to the same advice as provided originally, just had some additional detail YOU felt was necessary – for YOU.
Maybe you should have courteously asked for more information as YOU were looking at similar poles and YOU had a tight budget.
Also consider hijacking someone elses thread to complain about his replys because they dont help YOU wasnt the best option.
Your welcome BTW.

TF_Man of KentI don’t think there’s any need for a personal attack after I compimented you on your second post, PoDd.
My comments were intended to get further relevent information for consideration, which has now been achieved. To this end, I don’t consider it a Hijack of the thread, but there were irrelevences early on. However, if such defensive comments are issued and subsequent explanatory statements are necessary, the thread will indeed risk being hijacked, so I have no intention of maintaining the thread after this.
There are those that are leaders and those that are followers. On the whole, but not exclusively, I would classify myself as a follower and I’m not sure there are many that would commit that kind of money without wanting to know a bit more of the experiences others have had. One of the good things about this forum is that we can solicit/bounce ideas, thoughts and suggestions off each other. Your post along with those of the others that have offered reasons for their comments have achieved this, so for the sake of clarity; Thank You.
Hopefully ILF can use this additional detail to help him make his decision.

TF_Mikey .J.Jesus christ children, the guy just wanted some advice lol.
Take it from someone that knows and get the All Terrain mate, you wont be disappointed. Also the joys of a Daiwa pole is that you can source spares forever. And the top kits and number 4 sections are interchangeable with 99% of there other poles!
POD and MOK. You have too much time on your hands with all these handbags flying about. Perhaps your time would be better spent making some rigs.

TF_chunkyloverParticipantI have an airity, but previously owned a tournament and a G8, Daiwa poles are very good whichever one you choose, spare top kits are cheap and very easy to get, most shops that sell daiwa poles have then in stock, along with sections should you happen to bust one.
Good luck which ever pole you choose.

Get The G-20 mate ..because when you can afford the Airity it interchanges..lol
To be honest with Daiwa and garbolino poles you cant go far wrong , on spares , availiblity ect… but a pole is a personal choice thing as you know , so get out on the bank and if you see someone using one of the siad poles , ask if you can have a waggle of it and see for yourself. what might suit one , might not suit another!!
cheers

PS PoDd and man of kent….. Get a room will ya..pmsl~clap

TF_Mikey .J.No way near as strong as the Daiwa poles you named. Also good luck sourcing spares for it in 5 years time!

TF_Baby Faced AssassinParticipantI have a Maver 401 and never had a problem with it. I believe the equivalent one now is the 321 or 421. Not seen them though but Maver availability and spares have been good in the past. Can anyone add to my previous experience?

TF_In line feederThanks Tippy, I am not going to rush into buying a new pole, I must admit I am finding it hard at the moment to find the poles I want to look at in the shops.Had a look some at woodlands on Sunday after the match, still looking.

TF_airstifflerParticipantI’ve been using the G-Max 700 for about 3 months now and it’s a good pole and I haven’t had any of the top sections snapping on me. I’ve landed carp to around 16lb on green hollow no worries and other doubles on solid 16. Even had me a 6lb Koi off the top that shot straight towards me, the sort of run where you shut your eyes and wait for a snapping sound and the pole handled it fine. I was going down the whisker route but I got my G-max, new for 1/2 the price of a Whisker.
See if you can have the two side by side as I reckon the whisker would come out on top….

TF_wightangleri know a no. of decent anglers who use the DW all terrain and have seen it recently tame lumps over 25lb in matches on red hydro.
Seems well worth a look and given it’s comparitive lightness and strength compares very favourably with it’s vastly more expensive stablemate tourney pro. Certainly see it fished reguarly at full length of 16m.
very good finish and you can sometimes pick up a second hand one for around £650-850
which suggests it holds it’s price comparably well given how long it’s been out- again- a good recommendation. -

TF_the margin gnomeI got the all terrain. Nice pole.
