MancI won a match with 90lb on em in September at Border.
6 pints of hemp and one small pack of cocktail prawns, fished in the edge on a 14s..
They are not generally a winter bait. In my opinion, the carp like the salt in them in the warmer weather.
They seem to work best with hemp as a feed bait. -

TF_Happy DanglerHave caught carp at Rolfes on prawns and cockles this year.
A tip for toughening up frozen prawns – for hair-rigging on feeder or when small fish are problem.
Defrost, drain as much as poss, then spread them out on newspaper or kitchen roll on a tray and completely cover with cheap coarse salt.
Leave them like this in a fridge or cool place overnight and then wipe off the salt. It dehydrates them and makes them stay on the hook much, much better without seeming to make them less effective.

TF_wightanglernice tip HD, have had problems with some from iceland(probably not suprising), we dye em in predator plus which seems to work – mind you wightman uses his fresh locally caught ones no suprise he does rather better than the rest of us on them.

TF_Happy Danglerwightangler, it was something the locals did in Goa
They’d also tip off the excess salt and mix some honey with the prawns & let them dry a bit more in the sun. Ended up with a salty/sweet crisp coating on – just watch the wasps.

TF_Happy DanglerLol TT – you wouldn’t even want to put your fingers near your mouth after touching prawns that have been left a day in the sun to dry….

olivetteI have enjoyed success on prawn, but coloured them up using predator plus. Fed chopped prawn down the edge and fished half over the top on a size 14 pr28.

moosemanBeen useing prawns now for 2 seasons and their paying their way. Mainly in the summer i,m getting best results feeding small pieces along with a little pellet and using a third to a half a prawn on the hook. Picked up many a time this year at dryad and at back arun. Also in the winter by blending them in a liquidiser with a little predator red. Feeding this as slop and using small pieces on the hook, seems to hold the fish longer that pellet and sort out some better stamp ones as well.
