  I have some preston hollo 13th in my topkits that is probably 12months old and still going strong.probably my most used elastic

  Had the same issue a year ago with 13h and gave up. Assume it was a batch…tried Middy 12-16 instead and was impressed, bit soft initially but powers up nicely.
  
  Still got 11h though and its superb……used far more often and seems to last.

  I would contact preston direct to bring up a quality issue. Most companies will happily replace a item if its deemed faulty / not fit for purpose!

  2 kits of mine did exactly same, only used handful of times,2 lots of 11h have been fine,me done with 13h for good.

  Unfortunately they are not the easiest to get in contact with and then there’s the whole debate about retailer / Manufacturer ownership of the problem.
  
  That’s before you even start debating how long you have had it, how many times you have used it, fair wear and tear etc
  
  I had a long running problem with a pair of the blue boots with them……eventually they did replace them with some korum green ones, but it was painfully difficult and i can’t be ar..d for £10, I’ll just avoid in future.
  
  Don’t get me wrong some of their gear is excellent, but some is pants IMO……not sure they test rigoursly enough or QC as much as the likes of Drennan

  I complained to diawa about white hydro not lasting two minutes I sent them a email and the asked me to post the elastic to them were their technical team would investigate trouble was I’d thrown the elastic but to their end they did offer to investigate and they responded to emails etc

  Its not just the cost of the elastic you loose out on there’s the rig,dacron connector and in a worse case scenario a section winning fish. 😡

  i posted problem on here last year,Both 13 & 15 h pitted,I took both back to tackle shop ( they had only been in 4 weeks) the shop exchanged them for me, for the same, which are still going strong now.
  must have been a bad batch !

  I put some 13h in a couple of kits last winter and they have had little use. Both have broken on me in the last 2 weeks when I started to use them after hearing about problems. After the first failure I checked over the other one very carefully, this one broke on Saturday.
  As someone has already posted the elastic is one thing but at £3 for 3 the dacron connectors just add to the misery!!
  Back on the hydro again now.
